View Full Version : Circuit City B1G1 Free on HD DVD
mickey79 10-16-07, 09:31 AM It's such a weird/bad feeling, isn't it? I just have this image of everyone raiding and plundering the HDM aisle, while the CC bigwigs realize their mistake and issue an urgent memo to stores that takes affect, oh, right about when I get off work.
You Said It Mate! Word-For-Word! It's like the weirdest feeling in the pit of my stomach. At 5.30 PM this evening - it will be all over, and I will see over $60 ring at my cash register - oh of course I'll be like "But they are buy one get one free!" and she'll be like "I'm sorry sir, i have no clue what you're talking about".
Sigh!
RudyMeister 10-16-07, 09:33 AM OK How do you this again? stupid question here but what does BOGO stands for?
I can't wait to go to my local CC to get Transformer
eapleitez 10-16-07, 09:34 AM I'm gonna have to check this out after school! Hopefully they still have Transformers left!
Worked in NY baby. Sweet Transformer in HD.. Unreal deals.
chris
ccubedr6 10-16-07, 09:36 AM it worked. I just got Transformers for $15 +a free hat. ;)
Venk, did they have a ton of copies there at the Oakland Store? I work in Plymouth and the closest CC to me is in WEstland...I am debating whether or not I should go there at lunch, or wait to go to the Oakland Mall one on the way home since it is closer to my house....
Anyone try WEstland yeT?
snake1212 10-16-07, 09:37 AM Worked in Manchester NH
MySassyGirl 10-16-07, 09:37 AM Do I need to buy a blu-ray to get the deal too?
Or can I just buy 2 HD-DVD Transformers?
or can I just buy 1 HD-DVD Transformers to get the deal?
Thanks,
Worked in Orlando, FL (Waterford Lakes) - Got Transformers and 5 other $30 movies... missed getting the cap by 1 person in line :(
RudyMeister 10-16-07, 09:38 AM OK How do you this again? stupid question here but what does BOGO stands for?
I can't wait to go to my local CC to get Transformer
OK Just buy one and get one free... does it need to be BR? or all can be HD DVD
mickey79 10-16-07, 09:44 AM Worked in NY baby. Sweet Transformer in HD.. Unreal deals.
chris
Where in NY? I'll be heading to the Crossgate Commons in Albany, NY.
Jerry Curl 10-16-07, 09:45 AM Did NOT work at the CC in Glen Burnie, MD. They would only honor BD titles, and only certain titles. :(
SBrooks1 10-16-07, 09:46 AM Booya!!! :D
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c279/SBrooks2006/GIFS/transformers-receipt.jpg
jiggyblau 10-16-07, 09:54 AM I wonder how many people are going to go in there, buy Transformers and nothing else, and leave, wasting a free title.
I won't get there until this afternoon...I'm holding my breath and hoping that they have enough and that the offer works at my store. Thanks to all of you for the recon work!
SBrooks1 10-16-07, 09:56 AM I had to look around for the Transformers HD-DVD's. They had about 20 of them stuck underneath the Blu-ray movies on the bottom shelf near the floor.
Lebronze 10-16-07, 09:59 AM I'm kinda mad, the lady at my circuit city said it was blu-ray only after checking something on the register.
Oh well, I did get a stupid free hat.
Mr. Integration 10-16-07, 10:01 AM just 300 worth for half price including Transformers, this is a mistake because she rang a BR and HD DVD together BOGO
snake1212 10-16-07, 10:02 AM When I got mine a prompt popped up on the screen that said Blu-ray buy one get one free. I just told her before she rang them up that I thought these were buy one get one and when the screen came up she didn't read it and just accepted the promotion by hitting a key and rang up 6 movies for me.
Just picked up Transformers and Knocked Up for $30 at CC in Miami, FL (Doral Store).
Mr. Cinema 10-16-07, 10:09 AM Cool... will check tomorrow to hopefully pick up Transformers and a few more.
How was the selection there? The store near Crossroads was pretty bad.
They actually had a decent selection. Still missing lots of catalog titles that I wanted. But I found 12 yesterday.
Pezlion 10-16-07, 10:12 AM Confirmed BOGO in MD for:
Arundel Mills Circuit City (pretty huge selection for BR and HD/DVD, had pretty much everything)
Beltsville Circuit City
Picked up 32 titles today..probably go back for more tommorow
Anyone try other Maryland stores? Anyone try Transformers in Maryland today? Has anyone tried to get BB or another place to match this deal?
Does this work for any of the Tucson stores??? I live outside of tucson and don't wanna have to drive 45 minutes to find out it's not gonna work or not.
yes. did it last night.
blurredvision 10-16-07, 10:14 AM It's such a weird/bad feeling, isn't it? I just have this image of everyone raiding and plundering the HDM aisle, while the CC bigwigs realize their mistake and issue an urgent memo to stores that takes affect, oh, right about when I get off work.
Same here, I would consider going on lunch if it wasn't 10-15 minutes away. I just know it won't work for me when I pull in there around 4 this afternoon, even though a guy has already confirmed it works at my local store :). I was planning on buying Transformers anyway, so it's not a complete loss if I can't get it. But if they have the BOGO kicking, I'll come home with 4 movies instead of just 1, which puts a smile on my face.
I'd have so many more HD-DVD's if prices were just cheaper. I'm sort of lucky that my local Hastings has plenty of HD-DVD's for $19.99, basically all the ones CC has for $24.99.
Mistar Muffin 10-16-07, 10:14 AM Got Transformers for $15 and paired it with Troy: Director's Cut. Interestingly, I expected Troy to also be $15 because of the $30 sticker, but it rang up $12.50, so it must be in the computer at $25. Total was $27.50 plus tax for the two.
5harkology 10-16-07, 10:15 AM I just got back from the CC in Wheaton, MD and picked up 6 titles, the discount did not come up immediately so I asked about it, he had to refresh the invoice screen and then it applied the discount to everything except transformers and knocked up. I didn't notice it until I looked at the receipt back at the office. I am going to go back and see if they will apply the discount for these.
Mistar Muffin 10-16-07, 10:15 AM So can anyone confirm if this is working with 'Transformers'?
It does. Got Transformers for $15 on a ticket with Troy: Director's Cut for $12.50!
Mike1117 10-16-07, 10:15 AM Worked in NYC tonight at the 86th street location.
They have a sign up for BD but NO SIGN up for HD. As a result, almost all the BD's were gon ANd there are a TON TON TON of HD titles left.
Thanks for the info. Looks like I will be taking a subway ride uptown during lunch today!!!
bakpakva 10-16-07, 10:16 AM I picked up Transformers and Flags of Our Fathers @ $15 each in Fairfax. What a deal!
kevallen83 10-16-07, 10:16 AM Me too, at Akers Mill.
I heard that the Cobb Parkway didn't work earlier - but let me know if Akers Mill does... that's halfway between work and home for me for tonight!
Clever_User_Name 10-16-07, 10:16 AM I love my wife more than anything in the world - even before she just went to the store for me to pick up TF and Hollow Man for $15 each!!! :D
bryansj 10-16-07, 10:17 AM worked at akers mill in atl
dropzone7 10-16-07, 10:18 AM It does. Got Transformers for $15 on a ticket with Troy: Director's Cut for $12.50!
Nice!
:D
They had about 15 copies at the oakland mall store. Too bad you didn't post earlier, or I would have picked you up a copy and delivered it to you as I just went past Westland/Plymouth on my way to Ann arbor.
It would have saved me from having to buy another hd dvd. ;)
SBrooks1 10-16-07, 10:19 AM So can anyone confirm if this is working with 'Transformers'?
It definitely works :D
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c279/SBrooks2006/GIFS/transformers-receipt.jpg
mrlittlejeans 10-16-07, 10:21 AM Got Transformers for $15 and paired it with Troy: Director's Cut. Interestingly, I expected Troy to also be $15 because of the $30 sticker, but it rang up $12.50, so it must be in the computer at $25. Total was $27.50 plus tax for the two.
That is the exact same thing I did. Troy: Director's Cut rang up as $12.50 as well even though it was marked $29.99. The checkout lady was shocked. Its sad that Troy: Director's Cut was the only other movie there I didn't already own that was even mildly tempting.
This was at Circuit City on Southside near the Avenues mall in Jacksonville, FL.
Worked here in Richmond, VA as well.
Got Breach and Transformers for $30.
Can't complain about that at all!!
Greg
tjarrett999 10-16-07, 10:22 AM Worked at the CC in South Tampa. I got 2 Transformers, Knocked Up, and Shooter for $64 including tax.
mickey79 10-16-07, 10:22 AM I have a really bad feeling: It will either not work in my Albany, NY store - or they will be out of all Transformer HD-DVD's by 6 PM this evening when I can get there.
Sucks to be me right now - trust me.
bigdaveman 10-16-07, 10:25 AM Didn't work @ South Bend location but I sucked it up and baught both Bourne flicks and King Kong anyway. Really nice selection of both HD DVD and BD. Ups delivered Transformers today from Amazon. Looks like a pizza and movie night tonite!
Randy Mathis 10-16-07, 10:27 AM Worked in Schererville, IN today. I got Transformers and Blades of Glory for $31.78. (6% sales tax.)
Confirmed for Philadelphia, PA (Cottman & Bustleton store)
Tranformers $15.00
Training Day $12.50
sailorrhett 10-16-07, 10:28 AM I really want this to work, I want to listen to Transformers and Top Gun on my new Speakers.
ALL HD DVD and BR titles is BOGO at CC trust me I bought a crap load and will buy more soon.
Chris
Does that include the new release like Transformer?
rboster 10-16-07, 10:31 AM Does that include the new release like Transformer?
A couple posts above yours is this quote
Worked in Schererville, IN today. I got Transformers and Blades of Glory for $31.78. (6% sales tax.)
Just picked up Transformers and Knocked Up for $30 at CC in Miami, FL (Doral Store).
i second that, grabbed tf and sky captain for about $28. the register guy did a triple take on the receipt!
i may go back later to grab another 2 movies.
bsk4life 10-16-07, 10:32 AM I heard that the Cobb Parkway didn't work earlier - but let me know if Akers Mill does... that's halfway between work and home for me for tonight!
I just hit the Perimeter store and it worked. I picked up two copies of Transformers, two Blu-Rays, and got a free hat for $60.
hawkeye3.1 10-16-07, 10:32 AM The CC in Burlington, MA had 22 copies of Transformers when they opened, I expect this is about average. I was at a Target this am also, they only had 10 copies. Burlington allowed the discount without question, at the CC in Salem, NH my wife had to go through a couple sales associates before one of them made it work. Good luck.
SBrooks1 10-16-07, 10:37 AM Does that include the new release like Transformer?
See my receipt above? :D
does anyone know if they have to complete the order, and get ready for check out for the titles to show up as 1/2 off? i went today with 12 titles in hand, and he started ringing them up, and i even started with the BOGO Disney titles (Prestiege, Apocalypto) and they ALL were ringing up as $29.99...
he checked, and the manager said "only Blu-Rays from the bin" and i didn't want to argue that those were from the bin, etc... so i just left.
anyone have any insight on where the discount actually comes into the sales transaction? i might go back, if it turns out i left early... but it's probably for the best - i would have purchased 12 movies i don't really want - just for the sake of getting them at half price... :-(
timick1 10-16-07, 10:43 AM I'll be stopping by the Albany, NY store either tonight or tomorrow. I hope it works there.
lsdavinci 10-16-07, 10:44 AM Well, I just got Surf's Up and Transformers for $30 along with other great deals including Robocop. Shame I couldn't find The Fly though...
Anyway, if you want to increase your chances of this working, try the following:
Buy one of the movies that qualify for BOGO. That is your baseline. Collect all the other movies you want to buy. Once you are done, turn them all face down and put the BOGO up on top face down as well. Then give it to the cashier just like that and first item to be scanned is the BOGO title. Everything else, YMMV applies. My cashier saw Transformers and said to herself "I don't think it works on new titles." She then scannned and then shrugged her shoulders and continued...
BTW, this all may be intentional or it really is a glitch of some kind. If it is a glitch, I don't know how much longer it will last SO ACT FAST! :D
fatherom 10-16-07, 10:45 AM Gotta love this forum...
Went to the Burlington, MA store. Went to the customer service counter and told the kid that I knew these were BOGO.
Got Transformers, Superman 2, The Game and Top Gun for $52.50, total price $55.14. What a deal!
It's actually better than BOGO...since they just charge half price for each title, so for a 29.99 paired with a 24.99 title, you're not charged 29.99, you're charged 27.50.
Now that I have a receipt showing it works, I may go back and buy more. ;)
Cool!
Chris
mickey79 10-16-07, 10:46 AM I'll be stopping by the Albany, NY store either tonight or tomorrow. I hope it works there.
I'll be at the Albany, NY store (Crossgate Commons) around 5.30 later today, after work. Do you have any confirmation if it's working there or not?
No dice at the CC in Enfield, CT.
Tried to get Transformers and Goodfellas, but was told the promotion only applies to Blu-Rays. Would probably have worked if the cashier didn't ask his supervisor :(
Did get a free Transformers hat as a consolation! lmao
nikonjava 10-16-07, 10:48 AM Confirmed in Chicago area.
Picked up
Transformers $15
Italian Job $12.50
Total ~$30 including tax.
Thanks to whoever posted the pop-up thing. Initially the sales girl told me $60 total so I mentioned the sale and pointed her to the pop-up screen. :D
timick1 10-16-07, 10:51 AM I'll be at the Albany, NY store (Crossgate Commons) around 5.30 later today, after work. Do you have any confirmation if it's working there or not?
Same store. I'll beat you to the last Transformers. I'll be there at 5:25 :D
I have no confirmation if it works there or not. I just found out about this BOGO "deal".
I'm actually more interested in both Pirates movies since I bought Transformers from FYE.com this morning. $21 with the $7 rebate. I wish I found this thread first!
solidgator 10-16-07, 10:54 AM Worked on Transformers along with Terminator 1&2 on blu-ray and part 3 on hd-dvd. All half price. 4 hdm's for $55 after tax :) here in Louisville KY. The last 2 days I purchased 20 titles for about $260 .

Not Funny! My stomach already feels weird!!
Pirates movies are Blu-Ray, aren't they? I want to get Waterworld, Constantine, T:III with Transformers if this deal works at the Albany CC.
Are you actually going to be there at 5.25? So if I see someone hogging Transformers at 5.25 at CC in Albany, I should club him? :D
saginawjuggalo 10-16-07, 11:00 AM Yup, Transformers works on this deal!
Boy am I pissed that I pre-ordered for $28 bucks from F.Y.E. and it's still in shipping... On top of that I have to wait for a $8 MIR
Oh well, how was I to know... At least I picked up on 10 more movies
Worked here in Richmond, VA as well.
Got Breach and Transformers for $30.
Can't complain about that at all!!

Ha!! Crapola Venk...I don't think you will have a hard time getting rid of your other copy...
I ventured to the Westland CC and got the BOGO deal...I bought:
Shooter-$15
Troy Directors Cut-$12.50
Coming to America -$12.50
Bourne Supremecy-$12.50
Top Gun-$12.50
Transformers, for less than meets the eye!-$15!!
For once I feel I got a good deal on something!! God bless this forum!
GrooveRite 10-16-07, 11:04 AM Anyone here go to the Union Square CC in NYC and try getting Transformers yet with this deal??? I have like 8 other CC's within the 5 boroughs to go to if it doesn't work there.
Got Transformers at Arundel Mills, MD CC. Customer Service manager was actually the one that checked me out, she said it wasn't going to work on Transformers, after she scanned that and the other movie I got (Next) it showed both as 50% off and she just shrugged her shoulders and checked me out with no problem.
DavidEC 10-16-07, 11:10 AM OK what movies trigger the "BOGO deal".. since it seems from the many posting the first movie scanned has to be a "BOGO deal" coded movie.
lsdavinci 10-16-07, 11:11 AM Anyone here go to the Union Square CC in NYC and try getting Transformers yet with this deal??? I have like 8 other CC's within the 5 boroughs to go to if it doesn't work there.
you're in luck. that's where I got it from...
laserguns 10-16-07, 11:12 AM Picked up:
Transformers
Spy game
Billy Madison
Tomb raider
Army of Darkness
And
Surfs up
Day after tomorrow
Vacancy
28 days later
Evil dead 2
Ultraviolet
As I was looking through titles(as soon as cc opened), at least 20 people walked in and bought transformers. And I told most of them about the sale and most grabbed 2 copies and some stayed and started digging through other titles.
Awesome awesome sale. Thanks!
My total would have been $300+ but it was only $150. Wowowowowowowowowowowowow.
ccubedr6 10-16-07, 11:12 AM OK what movies trigger the "BOGO deal".. since it seems from the many posting the first movie scanned has to be a "BOGO deal" coded movie.
Movies that are 29.99 and under trigger the deal...
BuckNaked 10-16-07, 11:13 AM No dice at the CC in Enfield, CT.
Tried to get Transformers and Goodfellas, but was told the promotion only applies to Blu-Rays. Would probably have worked if the cashier didn't ask his supervisor :(
Did get a free Transformers hat as a consolation! lmao
I am SURE it's not going to work at the CC in Newington either, they are the biggest pr*cks in the world there, but here I go anyway, a half hour out of my way at lunch......I'll report back.
mchuckp 10-16-07, 11:14 AM I confirm that the deal is good on all HD-DVD and Bluray movies $29.99 or less at the CC in Cincinnati (Tricounty location). I picked up Transformers and American Werewolf in London.
I have other movies that I want but after going to 2 stores, none of them had the titles I'm itchin' for (Day after Tomorrow (BD), Shaun of the Dead (HD), Hustle and Flow (either). Still tempted to go back for some others. Can't decide.
Picked up
Transformers
Knocked Up
Mummy
Mummy Returns
Bourne Supremacy
MI: 3
for a total of about $90 after taxes.
laserguns 10-16-07, 11:16 AM what I did was put the bd titles I wanted on top and bottom of the HDDVD titles I wanted and then I said "I think there's a promotion going on for these." and they just did it
The actual deal on their monitor reads "blu-ray buy 1 get 1" so that's where my reasoning comes from
mickey79 10-16-07, 11:17 AM Do you still get BOGO if you buy ONLY HD-DVD?
Manchild 10-16-07, 11:18 AM UPDATE:
BOGO works at Burbank, Woodland Hills and Van Nuys. That means it should also work in the LA area.
I bought most of their COMBO discs (sorry guys $15 for a combo is hard to pass up).
Grrr...damn you! I was going to go buy the CC in Van Nuys after work! Hahaha...enjoy. Did any one of these stores have a better selection than another? I know the Burbank one isn't spectacular.
Robertk23 10-16-07, 11:20 AM Worked here in Peoria,IL. Although it looks like the selection has been picked apart. But a friend came with me to buy bluray movies and he was allowed to use the deal on $35 movies. So I might go back and try on some more expensive titles. Hot Fuzz was $35 here.
Mike4HDTV 10-16-07, 11:21 AM I picked up Transformers and Fantastic 4:ROTSS for a total of $29.37.
I have to go back and buy some more HD DVD's.
stangflyer 10-16-07, 11:24 AM I am from Grand Forks ND. Thats North Dakota for the people that have never seen the abbreviation before.:) No CC for 350 miles for me to even try.:(
Do you still get BOGO if you buy ONLY HD-DVD?
Yeap but 10 HD DVD's jus now with the BOGO.
LOL this is going to be caught very soon I think
Chris
dsaewra 10-16-07, 11:25 AM Just got back from Woodlands, TX store and am confirming that the deal does work.
Got:
Transformers
Knocked Up
Last Samurai
Serenity
Troy
V for Vendetta
for approximately 80 after taxes.
I'll probably check out the willowbrook store after work.
laserguns 10-16-07, 11:26 AM Yes, if you do all hd dvd, you can get the b1g1
I picked up MI3 and Bourne 2 at the Ann Arbor, MI CC without issue. :)
sunnysky 10-16-07, 11:27 AM Well, that was a huge surprise.
Disturbia and Transformers for $30. ( In Minnesota, Twin Cities)
Boy I bet the Blu-Ray fanboys are PI$$$$$ed about this working for HD-DVD.
Granted they will still win the week because of having sales everywhere, but still this CC screw up will also help HD-DVD for the week. Along with taking a lot of money away from BB.
Now I need to do some re-thinking one what else to pick up later at lunch hour.
Thank You to the original Poster.
slugger393 10-16-07, 11:32 AM I tried for Troy: Directors Cut and 300 (just a shot). Didn't work.
My Transformers/ Shooter BOGO has me happy! I had a nice convo w/ guys on both sides of the war there about how much more software everyone would buy at these prices.
Anybody know how to get 300 to be part of this deal? What about Troy: Directors Cut?
Clever_User_Name 10-16-07, 11:33 AM I tried for Troy: Directors Cut and 300 (just a shot). Didn't work.

Troy DC works - I assume the 300 combo disc is over the $30 threshold.
rboster 10-16-07, 11:33 AM COnfirmed the CC at 95th and Quiveria in OP, KS has the promotion. He had to ring it all the way through to the point of payment for the discount to show up.
Ron
stumlad 10-16-07, 11:33 AM I just bought 10 total . It works. I thought i was going to have a hard time since the cashier thought that the deal was las week and it was a 3 for 2 sale. She was surprised to find out it wasnt.
Now -- one note. In buying 10, 2 movies rang up at regular price. I took them off, and then I asked if I could ring them up again by themselves. They worked :) Awesome deal.
Mainiac 10-16-07, 11:34 AM Got Transformers for $15 and Constantine, The Mummy, and The Mummy Returns for $12.50 each at South Portland, Maine.
bryansj 10-16-07, 11:36 AM Just like to add some details about my trip to Akers Mill in Atlanta.
They had about 30 to 40 copies of Transformers so I grabbed two of them and went to the checkout counter. I said that I wanted to make sure that these were ringing up as BOGO free and she scanned it and said $29.99 each, but then did a couple things on the computer and said $31.80. I said total and she said yes. I don't know if it would have happened automatically or not, but I think that she took care of it and each movie shows $14.99 off of $29.99 for $15.00 each plus tax. My receipt looked as if I could return one and still keep the discount. Anyway, I sold the other one to my coworker for $16.
joe harris 10-16-07, 11:37 AM Tried to do this in Parkersburg, WV
cashier tried ringing them up but they didn't work. Another cashier said that the store wasn't participating in the deal like the larger stores. BUMMER :(
RodChester 10-16-07, 11:37 AM Well I got back from the CC in Springfield, IL and all went well. Cashier rang up Blu Ray copies of Letters from Iwo Jima and Fantastic Four: RotSS and applied the discount. He then rang up my copies of Transformers and Sky Captain on HD-DVD and it looked like he wasn't going to do the discount even though it came up on his screen. I promptly blurted out that I thought those were BOGO too and he just said ok cool and applied the discount.
Now I just have to show some restraint and keep myself away from there until the sale is over so I can pay my bills.
MichaelHDDVD 10-16-07, 11:37 AM I got a free Transformers cap with my HD DVD purchase :p
creyes981 10-16-07, 11:37 AM I just got Transformers for $15, Batman Begins, Troy Directors Cut, and Chronicles of Riddick for $12.50 each at the CC in Trumbull, CT. The cashier rang it up and said it was a pretty sweet deal, im trying to resist a temptation to go buy more movies.
Fort Union CC in SLC...
Bourne Identity - 12.50
Bourne Supremacy - 12.50
Mission Impossible - 12.50
Transformers (Free HAT) - 15.00
28 Day Later - 15.00
28 Weeks Later - 15.00
Format war... Priceless.
stumlad 10-16-07, 11:44 AM Just a note guys -- they do not "RING UP" at half off. Scanning them will not do the trick. I watched and they go to two separate screens before getting the total. Think about it like Amazon.com. You add stuff to the basket and then at the final checkout screen, you see the discounts applied. I'm debating whether or not to go back. I've already bought 19 movies this week between Amazon, Best Buy and CC. 9 of them were all included sales. The other 10 were non listed at CC
dad1153 10-16-07, 11:44 AM Anyone here go to the Union Square CC in NYC and try getting Transformers yet with this deal??? I have like 8 other CC's within the 5 boroughs to go to if it doesn't work there.
Just got back from there and the deal works! Got "TF," "Knocked-Up," "Flags of Our Fathers" and "Casino" for $62.50 w/ NYC tax. They're well-stocked on HD-DVD movies but sadly none of the combo-less re-releases (like "Letters from Iwo Jima") and a few cult hits ("Army of Darkness") are long gone. They had plenty of "Transformers" HD-DVD's though but hurry! :p

Ugh...I want to try the one in Harrisburg, PA (if anyone else has tried, let me know) but my car is in the shop so I can't get up there until it's finished and I can get ride to the garage.
Grrrrr....
dbburns 10-16-07, 11:45 AM OK. I am running over to the one in Tysons Corner now. I'll report back if it works. I see somebody above got Knocked Up to work. That's what I want. That and Transformers. *fingers crossed*
Damon Hill 10-16-07, 11:47 AM Deal works at the CC in Memphis, TN.
Just picked up:
Mission Impossible $12.50
Mission Impossible 2 $12.50
Next $15
King Kong $15
Mummy $12.50
Mummy Returns $12.50
Tomb Raider $12.50
Hulk $12.50
I know, I know... but I didnt get Transformers since I know my wife is getting it for me as a gift for our anniversary next week. :)
SBrooks1 10-16-07, 11:47 AM Just a note guys -- they do not "RING UP" at half off. Scanning them will not do the trick. I watched and they go to two separate screens before getting the total.
This is correct. When I bought my 8 movies last night she didn't have to do anything. There's a little white "S" to the left of each item as it rings up. When another movie $29.99 or less is rung up both white "S's" beside each item turns green showing a promo/discount is being applied automatically.
dad1153 10-16-07, 11:50 AM Just got back from CC at Union Square in NYC (the official store of the PS3 launch last year when they gave away 50 PS3's) and the deal works! They're well-stocked on HD-DVD movies but sadly none of the combo-less re-releases (like "Letters from Iwo Jima") and a few cult hits ("Army of Darkness") are long gone. Indianapolis, northside of town. Picked up Transformers and Blades of Glory, $31 total. It took 3 people at checkout to get it done, and they said no three times, but I just told them to run it through and see what happened, and to "trust me". Glad it worked! They all looked at me and one of them said "is this some kind of joke, that's not supposed to be like that, how'd you know that?" I told them that I was smarter than the average bear, and walked out.
Deal works at the CC in Memphis, TN.
I know, I know... but I didnt get Transformers since I know my wife is getting it for me as a gift for our anniversary next week. :)
Well you better tell her to go to CC so she can get you TF and some other movie for you anniversary for the same $$!! ;)
Heck I just gave my wife a list of movies I wanted so that she can get some early X-mas shopping done for me. I gave her a list of 10 I wanted and will not buy between now and X-mas. She won't get them all but hey I already spent $300 on Hi-Def movies this week anyway LOL!
Greg
MichaelHDDVD 10-16-07, 11:53 AM Transformers $15
Manchurian Candidate $12.50
Free Transformers hat for being one of the first 10 customers to buy Transformers :)
dr. wai 10-16-07, 11:53 AM I just got back with Transformers and M:I-3. I don't want M:I-3, so what is the return policy with an item like this? I want to get my $15.00 back but I don't want to run into them not giving me my money back because it was a promotion.
dad1153 10-16-07, 11:53 AM I told them that I was smarter than the average bear, and walked out.
http://www.spscriptorium.com/Season3/PeteySexualHarassmentPanda.gif You're a saaaaaad panda!
5harkology 10-16-07, 11:56 AM I'm disappointed I didn't get the free hat. Were they handing them out at the registers?
shogunprophet 10-16-07, 11:57 AM Circuit City in North Attleboro, MA. Transformers and Troy: DC with the BOGO. And they have the Transformers HD-DVD's at the service counter if you don't want to wander around like an idiot like I did.
- Jon
jholzbauer 10-16-07, 11:59 AM Another confirmation. Worked in central IL, 2 copies of Transformers + 2 hats for $32.
SonnyC79 10-16-07, 12:00 PM Nogo on the BOGO at CC in Frisco, TX. The media guy checked me out and saw that it only applied for BDs...despite the fact that the promo DID apply. Apparently, he felt the need to make an executive decision and deny me the deal. I will be going back later to try again and will hope for an employee who does not know the difference between BD and HD DVD. I will probably throw in a pair of BDs just to throw them off (and enjoy more movies).

North Attleboro is so close... I'm gonna be trying out the CC in Seekonk, MA when I get out of work around 4:30 EST, so I should be out there around 5:00. I just hope they haven't been cleaned out, yet.

This deal also applies at Circuit City, Cortlandt, NY 10567 (http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/storeid/3700/zip/10567/rpem/ccd/getStoreDetails.do) - I just went there. They don't have Transformers on HD-DVD in stock though (they didn't receive it; SD-DVD is there).
My biggest concern is that someone is going to fix the glitch (if it is one) and by later today it won't work anymore.
Hopefully I'm wrong.
frankyboy4 10-16-07, 12:04 PM I went to the Milford, CT store and got Transformers and The Game and got the BOGO deal. Transformers was at the Customer Service Counter, they only had about 5 left.

Just picked up
Transformers hd dvd
Surf ups Bd
Terminator BD
Beerfest HD dvd for 58 bucks at the CC in Citris Park in Tampa:)
Thanks again to this forum, so many deals get passed along here, gotta luv it. :)
Only problem with the CC I stopped at was the selection, it sucked hard, luckily I found one remaining copy of Blood Diamond and grabbed it. $29 total for Transformers and Blood Diamond = hell yeah!! =)

Funny thing, like others have said, nobody working there seems to know about this, the manager actually made a couple of printed movie lists while I was there from something like word pad, stuck them above the BR and HD DVD areas - he was able to see the movies that applied from the register, seemed like it was anything $29.99 and under, as we first tried to get me Iwo Jima (overpriced at friggin' $34) and the deal wouldn't apply of course. Man, if only they had more in stock of what I haven't bought yet!

I got rung up in the media section, but all the hats were at the front counter. Just show 'em your receipt on the way out.
MichFan 10-16-07, 12:10 PM W Broad St., Richmond, VA store works.
Transformers + Knocked Up = $30.
Decent selection, but not any of the catalog titles I was looking for and not any of the combo re-issues.
I was going to try at the West Oaks CC in Houston, but they honestly didn't have a single movie I wanted to group with Transformers. I had a list of about 7 movies and they didn't have ANY of them. Guess I'll try a different one after work.
There was an Asian guy buying about 8-10 HD-DVDs though. He nabbed the only copy of "Blades Of Glory" before I could get it.
On a semi-related note... man I hate CC, their cd/dvd department is never organized worth a damn.
It works in Knoxville, and for any Format Neutral folks, I was able to pick up Transformers and Reign Over Me for $15 each.
In Sterling, VA.. It worked.. Got transformers and Van Helsing for $27, then got Wild Things and King Aurther for $25... so its now 22 movies I got with this discount... Expensive week
Soycrema 10-16-07, 12:11 PM Just got back from Circuit City in Millbury, MA and it works!! As a matter of fact as I was browsing the HD-DVD stand an employee came by and told me al HD-DVD's and Blu-Rays are BOGO!! Got Transformers, Blood Diamond, Dazed and Confused and March of the Penguins for $57! :D
nvmyprixgt 10-16-07, 12:11 PM So do you have to tell them about the sale if they dont ring up?? the promo code is "02"? or do they ring up automatically?

wizzack 10-16-07, 12:12 PM Just tried the mt laurel NJ store.
Uut the door with 2 copies of transformers for $32.08. thanks for the heads up!
***** if this deal is really not supposed to be happening for hd dvd, get there as soon as you can. The man in front of me was abusive as hell - with 2ft tall stack of discs. He asked if "all these are buy one get 1 free". The cashier directed him to the manager. Get em while you can!
iontyre 10-16-07, 12:12 PM Any word on the CC in Bel Air, MD?
MichaelHDDVD 10-16-07, 12:13 PM I'm disappointed I didn't get the free hat. Were they handing them out at the registers?
The checkout lady said it was for the first 10 people who purchased Transformers. They were kept under the registers.
SBrooks1 10-16-07, 12:14 PM So do you have to tell them about the sale if they dont ring up?? the promo code is "02"? or do they ring up automatically?
They ring up automatically. I don't know where this "02" code rumor started but I've bought things twice from CC in the past 2 days and both times the discount applied automatically.
tuffhand 10-16-07, 12:15 PM So do you have to tell them about the sale if they dont ring up?? the promo code is "02"? or do they ring up automatically?
Rang up automatically for me - Transformers and Top Gun - at the CC in Braintree MA.
BOOO!!!! No dice at the St Petersburg, Florida CC. (Tyrone area)
I had 7 HD's and 1 BR, all 29.99 or less. I watched the register screen closely, all rang at regular price and there were no special promo pop ups or anything like that. Also FWIW, there was NO signage anywhere about any BR BOGO.
in hindsight, I shouldve grabbed a Disney/BV title or two that I knew shouldve been BOGO for real to see if that triggered the deal, but WTF....peeps are buying armloads of HDDVDs at half off no problem. shouldnt they all have the same system/software?
not the end of the world and its close to my house but it sux to not be able to take part in (what would've been) a great deal
KO
CC in Orland Park IL had NO problem doing this HD DVD BOGO deal...matter of fact they seem to know it was going on. I personally picked up 8 titles. I was there at 9.55 am right before opening and there was a line of no less then 30 people waiting to pick up Transformers and some free Transformers hat...While picking up my copy of Transformers in HD there was 2 other people doing the same and I told them about the HD DVD BOGO deal...they couldn't stop thanking me enough. One of the guys just bought a A3 last week, He had at least 10 titles in hand and he wasn't done. This is one awesome deal.
OggideM 10-16-07, 12:16 PM they didn't have that much I wanted in the store (and didn't already have!!) oh well too good a deal to resist
Transformers (and hat)
Charlie and Chocolate Factory
Corpse Bride
Dazed and Confused
Eternal Sunshine
Fast and the Furious
Good Shephard
Smoking Aces
Pittsburgh location on McKnight Road.

Stores that work:
All Houston (city) stores (haven't tried Houston surrounding areas)
Fredericksburg, VA
Columbia, SC (Both locations here)
Mt Laurel, NJ
Stores that do not work:
Sterling, VA
Fairfax, VA (NOT confirmed in person)
NC (across from Crossroads)
St. Cloud, MN
Are we 100% sure about Sterling,VA not working? It's so much closer traffic wise than Fairfax.
henryld 10-16-07, 12:18 PM Thanks for the heads up guys. Just got back from picking up Flags Of Our Fathers, The Scorpian King, Transformers and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Each two items printed out as Promo Package at 50% off. Selection was not too bad at the CC I went to. Might even try another store later to pick-up a few more if they are in stock.:)

iceperson 10-16-07, 12:23 PM Damn cant go until 2ish...hope they still have the hats by then...I want one bad.:(
1st store I went to was out of the hats when I bought TF @ 10:00 this morning (my guess is the employees looted them before the store opened.) I went to another store to see what their selected was and they gave me a hat. Apparently both stores only got about 1 dozen each.
dbburns 10-16-07, 12:25 PM OK. I am running over to the one in Tysons Corner now. I'll report back if it works. I see somebody above got Knocked Up to work. That's what I want. That and Transformers. *fingers crossed*I'm back. NOGO in Tysons Corner. The lady knew the deal. She said they are not half price there, but she showed me a list of stores in the area that are doing the deal. I asked why they weren't, and she said something about manager's special. She said I could buy the Blu movies to get the deal. I said, "Not the red?" She said, "Not here."
From memory, some of the stores listed were:
Fredericksburg
Winchester
Fairfax (not sure which location)
Springfield
Bailey's Crossroads
Guess I'll try to get to Bailey's after work. I don't exactly consider Fredericksburg and Winchester to be "local".
There were others listed, but I knew Bailey's was my closest bet, so I didn't memorize all other locations.
Bummer. I had Transformers and Knocked Up in hand and was all excited.
timfitz99 10-16-07, 12:26 PM Dallas, TX... got Transformers and Knocked up, $15 each!
The cashier was a little confused, since when he scanned the first one something popped up about B1G1F Bluray. He asked me if these were part of the sale. My answer, of course, was "yes".
Unfortunately they were out of the Starz/Anchor Bay Blu-Rays, as I wanted those, too.
siddavis 10-16-07, 12:27 PM Hazelwood, MO - BOGO Worked fine!
Bought Transformers and Flags
Might go back for more...
On another note, I thought the promo material there for the HD version of Transformers was pathetic - in fact, nonexistent. They had a couple of different displays for the SD version, but you had to go to the regular HD DVD section under "T" and there wasn't even a new release sticker or anything. Also, to me it looked as if I was buying the first HD version. The rack was stocked to the edge. When I was there, at least 2 people asked about buying Transformers, but were only pointed to the special displays (SD only).
jdmac29 10-16-07, 12:27 PM I purchased batman begins, polar express, bourne identiy and bourne supremacy for $50 + tax. Cheaper than purchasing the regular dvd's for some. I had to ask for it they all rang up 24.99 but a manager did some research and did a code and he said 12.50 a piece.
I am very happy.
Anyone in the Chicagoland city limits or north suburbs have success?
badandyho 10-16-07, 12:29 PM Worked in Fayetteville, AR. Got Transformers, Troy DC, Bourne Indentity, and The Getaway (Steve McQueen) for $57.xx. Will go back later this week when given permission by the boss.

Sorry, I nabbed the last copies of some of the better titles there last night. :o
Are we 100% sure about Sterling,VA not working? It's so much closer traffic wise than Fairfax.
YES, it worked for me there at lunch time... $15 plus $12.50 for Van Helsing
Lebronze 10-16-07, 12:34 PM I went to the Milford, CT store and got Transformers and The Game and got the BOGO deal. Transformers was at the Customer Service Counter, they only had about 5 left.
Frankyboy4
what? what? I went to the same store and this lady told me it was blu-ray only. I tried convincing her...but no go.
This is lame, I want free dvds! Maybe I'll go back and try again
smittygt 10-16-07, 12:34 PM Shreveport, LA CC - here, I bought a mixture of HDDVD and Blu, every single one i bought was BOGO, even Transformers rang up the same as others here on the forum.
I then went to BB and asked if they would match the BOGO on all HDM from CC, the manager agreed, bought 6 more titles from there. The BB employees there were very nice, and accommodating.
Needless to say i'm a very very happy camper, even though I am broke, I have alot of HDM to wallow through over the next few weeks and months. :D
Aaron*C 10-16-07, 12:35 PM For those of you in the San Jose, Ca bay area the stores at Eastridge shopping mall (Quimby Rd.) and Stevens Creek give you the deal. Between yesterday and today I walked away with 30 HD-DVD/Blu-ray movies 4 of which were Transformers. :D

Great deal!
chad473 10-16-07, 12:37 PM worked here, the sales clerk even commented that she didn't even know they were doing it. wonder how long this is going to last. I may go back later in the week to get some more.
luclin999 10-16-07, 12:39 PM They ring up automatically. I don't know where this "02" code rumor started but I've bought things twice from CC in the past 2 days and both times the discount applied automatically.
At the West Oaks Houston Store, a prompt comes up when they scan the first HD or Bu that says something like:
-----------------------------------
Apply promotion?
Not apply - 01
Blu Ray Disk - 02
-----------------------------------
And if the clerk types in 01 at that prompt it disables the half off pricing for the that item and all items that follow it automatically.
Both times I have gone through the line I have seen this prompt and both times the clerk had to hit 02 to enable the sale pricing.
Averhoeven 10-16-07, 12:41 PM Awesome deal! Just grabbed Transformers, Training Day, Last Samurai and Chronicles of Riddick. Older movies I just never got around to buying.... bought ;)
Charleston, SC
70judge 10-16-07, 12:42 PM Works at both Gwinnett place and Mall of Georgia, we just bought about 20 HD DVD's. 24.99 and 29.99 worked fine, didn't try anything in the 30 range. Didn't try Transformers in HD at CC, already picked it up at Frys for $26.99.
mickey79 10-16-07, 12:42 PM does anybody at all know if this is working in the westchester county are of NY? I am stuck @ work until 6 and have a bad feeling...
Join the club mate. I have the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach.
It's 1.41 PM where I'm at. Nearest CC is in Albany, NY, about 30 minutes away. I get out of work at 5, which means I won't be there till 5.30 earliest. They are either going to be all out of 'Transformers', would have fixed the glitch by then, or simply not ring up half when I reach there.
And then there is this dude who wants to beat me to it and get there at 5.25 PM and buy all their 'Transformers' discs
Here is my short story. After reading all this, I printed out the copy of the receipt posted above and went to CC in Franklin, TN. Picked up Transformers and Knocked Up, came up to one of the guys that worked in the store and told him about BOGO, showed copy of the receipt. He said he would check with the corporate. Came back and said no such sale was going on. I asked if he could call the store that was indicated on the copy of the receipt and ask if they could confirm the sale. He said No, that the corporate would know about it and they did not. He then said that maybe I could go to the register and if it is somehow in the system, it would automatically make the deduction. I went to the cashier, but both movies showed 29.99 each. I almost gave up but decided to try at the customer service. I told them that many CC stores in diff. stated do that and showed copy of the receipt. At first it looked bad, but then after some talking he scanned both movies and charged me 32.78 for both. The thing is I still don't know if the sale was confirmed to them or if they just made an exception.
jmu1330 10-16-07, 12:43 PM YES, it worked for me there at lunch time... $15 plus $12.50 for Van Helsing
Though it did not work for me in the very same trip (to the Sterling CC). I had Transformers (HD), Flags of Our Fathers (BD), Mallrats (HD), Fantastic Four: ROTSS (BD), Broken Arrow (BD) and Seven Years in Tibet (BD). Looking at the receipt Mallrats, Fantastic Four, Seven Years in Tibet and Broken Arrow all were BOGO. But Transformers and Flags of Our Fathers (both $29.99) did not ring up BOGO. And this was literally 3 minutes after REL77's worked. I have no idea what happened, but I'm guessing it's something with Flags of Our Fathers and not Transformers. So, your results may vary.
Personally I'm going to return those two and hope the deal works at another Circuit since I really want Transformers.
Edit: I should also note that Transformers was the first movie the guy rang up. Mallrats was second (he grouped the HD-DVD and BD discs together). The next was Flags. So I'm not sure order had anything to do with it either.
hidefny 10-16-07, 12:43 PM Anyone know if any Long Island CC are a part of this promo? If not, I'll be checking tonight and will report back to you guys...
coolhand 10-16-07, 12:44 PM Don't walk, RUN. This is decidedly a limited time engagement.
There was a sign next to the check out listing the eligible disks. They were ALL BD and they were ALL 24.99 or 29.99 (which is why it doesn't work for the $34.99 titles). I asked if they were BOGO as he started ringing them up and he said its just those Blu-Rays (on the list). I played dumb and asked if ANY of them qualified and when it came up on the screen I said "See". He gave me the discount, but was really hesitant about it. Clearly the HDM SKUs don't have enough differentiation in them to know what qualifies and what doesn't. It is asking the cashier to see if it qualifies. I suspect this will be corrected quickly. I got 12 including 4 Transformers (I only had 15 total before this trip). Unfortunately they didn't have Knocked Up. Hoping to exchange one at the CC by my house.
West Side Madison WI.
You know what would be REALLY cool is if the BDA had to pay for all my free HD DVDs.
Went to the CC by washington square mall in Beaverton, OR and got 2 copies of transformers with BOGO so it's working there for now.
Transformers and Shooter did not work for me at the Valley Forge, PA CC
I may try the Exton store on the way home from work
does anybody at all know if this is working in the westchester county are of NY? I am stuck @ work until 6 and have a bad feeling...
Yes, it does - see this post (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showpost.php?p=11921658&postcount=289).
MattGuyOR 10-16-07, 12:47 PM Anyone try this in the Portland area yet?
Aaron*C 10-16-07, 12:47 PM Though it did not work for me in the very same trip (to the Sterling CC). It's strange this promo seems to work differently at every store. Maybe the clerk at your store just forgot to add in the promo with Transformers/FOOF. I would go back and have them try again. Because I think they manually have to add the discount on 1 of the 2 discs sounds like they just forgot.
Went to the CC by washington square mall in Beaverton, OR and got 2 copies of transformers with BOGO so it's working there for now.
Pens1566 10-16-07, 12:49 PM Now the question becomes, "How do I get BB to PM?"
JJacobs 10-16-07, 12:50 PM Confirmed in Fort Wayne, IN accross from Glenbrook on coliseum. Picked up Transformers and Half Baked...tried to get The Departed because it was tagged at 29.99 when all the copies behind it were marked at 34.99 but no dice. The guy working there said it seemed really random as to what was working at what wasn't, but when i went up with the departed and transformers the first time he told me right away that i could get another one for free...pretty cool o_0
BrickTop 10-16-07, 12:50 PM Anybody from the Canton, Ohio area have any luck?
Thanks,
Jonathon
jandawil 10-16-07, 12:50 PM WooHoo!!!! Just took an early lunch and got Transformers, Corpse Bride, Serenity, and Top Gun for $56!!!! It's nice to see HD catching on. I was at the store at 9:55 AM (Laguna Hills CC in So Cal) and there were about a dozen people waiting to get their hands on Transformers naturally. CC didn't even have the HD copy on the floor, they had to pull it out of some cabinet. The surprising thing was there were 4 or 5 of us getting it on HD so it looks like it's catching on. And we got it for only a buck more than the SD crowd. Anyhow...back to work....or maybe...I feel a cough coming on...not feeling to well....I think I better go home for the day.
Kerflop 10-16-07, 12:52 PM I just returned from the CC in Overland Park, KS (a suburb of Kansas City) and they honored the BOGO. I picked up Transformers, Batman Begins, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Perfect Storm (wifes pick)... Just over $50 for all four. Thats what I call a deal.
I am in Solon Ohio and got a ton of buy one get one. Just for the heck of it I tried Shooter and Transformers only paid for one. Excellent. Went back and grabbed a bunch of others all rang up at half price.
Note make sure that you seperated them by price to avoid losing a couple of bucks since it will make the cheaper ones half price first.
jmu1330 10-16-07, 12:53 PM The way it seems to be working is you need to have 2 HD-DVDs priced $29.99 and under or 2 Blu-rays. The deal won't work at some stores if you try to mix and match Blu-ray/HD-DVD like you did with Transformers (HD) and FOOF (BD).
Hmm...
So Transformers, Flags and Silver Surfer were 29.99
Seven Years in Tibet, Broken Arrow and Mallrats were 24.99.
So it still seems like it was uneven. Because Mallrats was definitely half off and that was the only other HD-DVD I picked up.
Just a note. Not sure if it means anything, but I called the Huntington, WV store and they had not heard of HD-DVD being BOGO but agreed to scan it for me and try. Sure enough, it worked.
But, by the time my in-laws got to the store, it no longer worked. They agreed due to the fact I had called, but it had stopped working there.
Do not know if that will be the case elsewhere though.
munkyxtc 10-16-07, 12:54 PM if there is a prompt for blu ray / HD DVD when the clerk is ringing you up has anyone tried to have a BR rung up first to see if the promotion applies to all of the movies; then you can just return the BR...I know I know don't yell at me...It was just a thought.
sunnysky 10-16-07, 12:54 PM I was so surprised to get the deal (with Transformers), I had totally forgot about the hat. But the Clerk (for whatever reason) did remember. They were behing the counter, and she put one in the bag. Cool.
All good in Huntsville, AL.
Corpse Bride
Polar Express
Transformers
Breach
~$59
It works at the Cedar Bluff CC in Knoxville. I was able to get a mix of BD and HD for the BOGO deal.
Brajesh 10-16-07, 01:01 PM Works at both Gwinnett place and Mall of Georgia, we just bought about 20 HD DVD's. 24.99 and 29.99 worked fine, didn't try anything in the 30 range. Didn't try Transformers in HD at CC, already picked it up at Frys for $26.99.
Cool! Will get out to Mall of Georgia this evening. Hope you guys left some HDDVDs & BDs for me ;).
MattGuyOR 10-16-07, 01:01 PM Went to the CC by washington square mall in Beaverton, OR and got 2 copies of transformers with BOGO so it's working there for now.
Good work, buddy! :)
What is BOGO again? Buy One Get One?
jlkeeton 10-16-07, 01:02 PM Worked in Duluth (Gwinnett Place) CC for Transformers. Just for kicks, I tried to get Scorpion King to finish my Mummy collection since it didn't work yesterday. It rang up 15$, so it must've been something the clerk yesterday was doing. Joy Joy.
coolhand 10-16-07, 01:03 PM Don't walk, RUN. This is decidedly a limited time engagement.

chucky08016 10-16-07, 01:03 PM Just came back from the Princeton, NJ store and purchased the following:
BD:
The Fifth Element
King Aurthur
The Prestige
The Day After Tomorrow
Enemy of the State
HD DVD:
Transformers
ALL were marked down (including Transformers) as part of the BOGO offer.
I'm now going to the Mt. Holly, NJ store to see what I can get there. I'll report when I get back. Going to try to get more HD DVD this time.
rwestley 10-16-07, 01:04 PM I just came back from a Long Island CC store and got a few disks. You can mix and match HD & Blu-Ray. I wonder I long the deal will last. Run don't walk before things change. A great deal. The store neare me gave me half price on all disks I purchased including Transformers. You must buy at least two disks to get the deal and it works on everything in stock. The store even gave me half price on the $34.99 titles by overiding the price.
Buy 1 Transformer bet 1 Heroes free !
hotdogwater2 10-16-07, 01:05 PM Just a note. Not sure if it means anything, but I called the Huntington, WV store and they had not heard of HD-DVD being BOGO but agreed to scan it for me and try. Sure enough, it worked.

Don't call the store!!!
That's what kills deals like this
CorruptedDragon 10-16-07, 01:06 PM Went back to the store in South Portland, Maine. Last night they did the BD but denied me on HD DVD. After seeing that someone went there today and they did HD DVD for him, i figured id give it another shot. Brought up Transformers, Disturbia, Breach, Sky Captain, Flags of our Fathers, and Clerks 2...and jackpot! This guy did seem to look at his screen a few times like he didnt believe the total, but i just said, yeah great deal isnt it, b1g1f! He said yeah, im gonna have to pick some up, and i left!
jlkeeton 10-16-07, 01:06 PM If you go to the Gwinnet Place CC, they don't have TF out at all. It was in a stock cart - the stocking ppl hadn't gotten to putting that or The Reaping (BDR or HD DVD) as well. They had about 100 copies, so I don't think they will run out unless someone decides to buy 50 copies to sell on Ebay...
slugger393 10-16-07, 01:07 PM Transformers and Shooter did not work for me at the Valley Forge, PA CC
I may try the Exton store on the way home from work
Nick. Keep Trying!
Mine worked for the exact combo. Nice taste, bud!
Hopefully I can get Troy: DC and Casino when I get off work.
not to get OT, but just quick, whats Goodfellas like on HD DVD? How's the audio track? Does the video Pop like Casino?
Casino's one of the best catalog HD DVD releases I've seen.
COACH2369 10-16-07, 01:08 PM I just hit the Circuit City on Kemper Rd in Cincinnati...
Spoke with the operation's manager and he told me that the promotion is good nationwide starting today and is good on all DVD'S/HD-DVD'S/Blu/CD'S priced $24.99-$29.99...
The bad news is all I could find that I wanted was Tranformers and Shooter... the selection of HD-DVD's was poor and they didn't have many of the new releases...
Shot over to Best Buy and they said they would price match the Circuit City deal only if they could call and verify they had stock on the same movies....
The good news is, nobody would answer the phone so the guy went ahead and price matched:
We are Marshall
Next
Evan Almighty
Disturbia
Top Gun
300
I even grabbed 4 Blu-Rays and I don't even have a player yet...
I plan on hitting the CC and BB right up the street from my house tonight..
Good luck!!!
MrBigglesworth 10-16-07, 01:09 PM South OKC Report.
I got 2 BRs and 2 HD DVDs, the first cashier rang them up at full price. I asked about the Bogo and he said "huh", the coworker next to him said "Yah, didnt you know, here do this" She started to punch some buttons and rescan and ended up getting everything for $12.50 a piece as they were originally $25 titles.
So even in the same store, there are clerks that do know and some who dont know how this is rung up.
Just got back from CC here in Yonkers NY & the deal went thru. Picked-Up:
Flags of our Fathers
Alpha Dog
Black Snake Moan
Troy Director's Cut
Harsh Times
The Warriors
Damage: $90.00
I was denied at the Wymomissing, PA store. They even went as far as saying the Blu-Ray deal was an error too.
They didn't have much of a selection anyway, so I would have ended up having to get Knocked Up, or something dreadful like that anyway.
jhuehne 10-16-07, 01:10 PM I just absolutely RAPED my local store.
I bought 18 movies, so many they had to ring me up with 2 orders because the checkout software would not allow over 12 titles on one order. The first 12 movies most at 29.99 price rang up to about $160, so I went to get 6 more movies to get my total purchase over $199. I then asked them to use a $40 off $199 or more coupon I printed from the Internet before I went in.
They said they would do it, never rang it up because the system wasn't possible to get my total that high due to the 2 orders, so they did a manager override and manually took off the $40 on the first order.
12 movies for $122 including tax
next 6 movies were just under $80 including tax so 18 hd-dvds about $200. Beat that amazon!
I brought a printout of this scanned receipt just in case:
http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c279/SBrooks2006/GIFS/receipt.jpg
Here is the coupon code I used for $40 off $199 or more:
http://www.divshare.com/download/2192159-6c9
Your results may vary on the coupon, but I had no problem using it today. My store probably had 50+ copies of Transformers on hd-dvd. I double-dipped for that one since my prebooked copy got backordered. Who can resist for $15?
hidefny 10-16-07, 01:10 PM "I just came back from a Long Island CC store and got a few disks. You can mix and match HD & Blu-Ray. I wonder I long the deal will last. Which store is this? Hicksville? Commack? another??
5 hd dvd's and 5 blu's. $300 worth for only $150 in tucson. not bad. i may go back after work to get more.
This would sure be a sweet deal....
Hope they are doing this in MA.
Guess I'm going to CC tomm. to find out!!
GO SOX!!
Went into CC in Taunton Ma. (RTE 140 near RTE 24). Today, and picked up 6 discs, all 24.99 or 29.99
All came up full price at the register, I spoke to the Cashier about the BOGO(he didn't even know), who asked ANOTHER guy, and THAT guy came over and fixed it.
AAMOF, 1 of the discs I had was 34.99, and it was gonna screw me outta the 1/2 off deal- and the Smart Cashier said- Umm ya may wanna go get a different disc, so you can get the 1/2 on disc #5+6- this one is full price... so, I went and got a different disc(29.99), and Wala!!- 1/2 of!!
All showed up on the screen as Blu Ray Promo- but it worked when the guy over rode it.
24-29.99 works.
34.99 doesn't.
Transformers- Day/Date for $15? Yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwww!!
Just verifying what other folks have said later.......:D
m
I got Transformers HD DVD for $14.99 along with Bourne Identity ($12.50) and can confirm BOGO is alive here in SoCal.
There was some other guy there that was well aware of the deal, and he got like 6 HD-DVD's. After I checked out, I went back to the HD aisle just to see if there were another two I might want to buy, and a guy came up to me asking where the Transformers HD DVD's are. (there were more on the side display)
I informed him of the sale too, I wasn't sure if he knew about it or not. In total I saw about 4 or 5 people buying the TF HD DVD just from the 5 minutes I was in there. NICE.
mickey79 10-16-07, 01:12 PM Still looking for any kind of confirmation on the Albany, NY (Crossgate Commons) store.
I went to the SouthCenter(Seattle,WA) store and the deal worked but what a totally sh!tty selection and sh!tty prices.
Combos were $34.99 so no go for Letters from Iwo Jima:mad:
I'll see how far it is to another store and try to exchange the Apollo 13.
Yeah and by the way don't call the store and mention you heard it on AVS.
I can't believe some people are so clueless.
Yep! Works like you all advertised. Thatnls peep! Because of you I went and got Transformers and Batman Begins for less than $30 bucks at lunch.
so, did anyone look at the prices as they were ringing up? because i did, and they were not coming off as half off. i asked previously if the half off discount gets applied at the end of the transaction. if not - FREDERICKSBURG, VA: DEAL NOT WORKING...
Vonbek777 10-16-07, 01:15 PM The CC on Hulen in Fort Worth has the deal but no copies of Transformers on hd.
This is a great deal overall but it can be frustrating. I have yet to be denied anywhere and all the clerks who have checked me out have just punched through the whole thing and given me the discount.
As mentioned the 2 keys to this deal are
1. All titles must be $29.99 or less .. nothing over unless you get lucky.
2. Let everything ring up and let them get to the end (ie just before you pay) and check the total. It should be about 1/2 of what the titles added up to be from their stickers. If not then say something otherwise just let it.
At my store the cashier simply had to ring them up and answer yes to the discount question on the screen. It immediately came up after ALL titles were scanned and they went to the payment screen. Before that NOTHING comes up about a discount.
Relax and be patient and it will work. There is no need to push it.
I for one am very happy with all the deals that have come up recently -- both HD-DVD and BR. I only wish this would happen again in mid-late November to capture some of those nice BR releases coming up. Oh well it matters not as this week has bankrupted me anyway.
Enjoy your movies!!
Greg
Just returned from the CC in Tustin. In fact, met two fellow AVSers there as well who were dilligently stocking up :).
I snagged the following:
Transformers
Beerfest
Smokin Aces
V for Vendetta
Mallrats
School for Scoundrel
Bourne Supremacy
Knocked Up
I am headed there back tonight to see what's left. No problems at checkout and the cashier was knowledgeable about the deal.
Have fun!
The deal also worked in Aurora, IL. Just picked up Transformers and Bourne Supremacy since I'd bought a bunch at Fry's with their recent deal. Saw another guy buy 8-10 HD-DVD's as I was walking in, overheard that it worked for him also....
coonanan 10-16-07, 01:16 PM Anyone try this at the Buena Park store in SoCal?
s2mikey 10-16-07, 01:18 PM Rochester, NY - Greece Ridge Mall Circuit City is CONFIRMED for the BOGO deal.
Just grabbed Transformers(they had like 7-8 copies left too) and Next. $15.00 each. The girl said that the sale was NOT an error and will go on for the rest of the week which means Saturday is the last day. I also confirmed that titles OVER $30 do NOT work there in any way or configuration. This store has a GREAT amount of HD DVD choices/stock and they havent been hit bad at all from what I could tell. :D
Wish there was a few more I wanted but I hate blind buys(Next is blind for me) and didnt ant to go crazy just because prices are low.
My aching focking wallet..... UGGGH! ;)

dplick28 10-16-07, 01:20 PM Just got back from the Lawerenceville store.
Was told by the guy in the department that they are not on sale and told it me was for blu-ray only. I ignored him and grabbed a copy of
Transformers
The Hitcher
Disturbia
Smokin Aces
(They had a real ****** selection)
And went up to the register. At first the cashier told me they weren't blu-ray and then when I said ok I don't want any of them she decided to give them to me at the price. So I got all 4 for around 63 dollars. Not too bad if only they had something I wanted.
If anyone wants to trade I have the hitcher and smoking aces just sitting in my room and will trade them for something if they want these titles.
