i wasn't able to find anyone else with this problem so i was hoping that someone on here would be able to help.
First off, i don't think they are dead pixels because they aren't always stuck on red.
Secondly, i've noticed that the screen will burn in very fast, like if i leave still images on for a few minutes, then move to something else you can still see the remnants.

the problem is that there seems to be a red 'grid' only sometimes when there is a lot of white/bright colors.

i've attached a few pictures

You're going to have to call for repair. This is not bad pixels, but something commonly called 'solarization'. It's a problem with the panel and scan boards of which there is not likely a repair to fix, as the unit's panel is one piece (small 32" plasma, it being). So, likely needs replacement of entire panel or entire TV.

i don't understand, how can the lcd be bad, all of the pixels work sometimes, just sometimes i see the red pixels snow??

Well. This is a plasma gas panel. Every pixel has to charged 'on' and discharged 'off' . The scan driver boards do this, and ,on this Sony, the scan driver boards are part of the display panel. One piece.
The symptom(red coming on in bright scenes) is because the signal developed on the scan boards is not correct ( or the panel itself is bad) to charge and discharge the pixels. I actually would bet that it's the panel itself changing after warmed-up.

Similar to the Samsung HP-S4253 thread:

Try calling Sony service.

well it does the red pixels everywhere right from the moment i turn it on.

the tv has adjust knobs on the inside for ve, vw isc and then one on the center broad which i'm not sure what it's called. I don't see a vscan adjust.

in the other thread, the person said he fixed it by turning down the vscan. does this tv not have one? or is this not related to the problem at all?

thanks, i appreciate the help.

so there is no way to reduce the scan voltage itself??

It's a plasma, and it works the panel the same way. Ony difference is some brands have about 10 adjusters(including on the power supply) and some can have about 3 or 4(on the power supply only). Some also call the voltages by different names. The problem with adjusting 'out' a power supply setting is, in effect, you are also adjusting the YSUS(left looking from rear) settings, which can make the display less power efficient.
Start by looking for the label stuck directly on the back of the panel. Then figure out which voltage is which label entry(Usually 3 to 7 entries.)

I'd like to resurrect this thread because I just acquired a KE-32TS2U that exhibits this problem. Red Snow that is.

There is a power saving button on the remote to adjust power consumption and I can greatly reduce the red snow effect when I change the setting from Standard to Reduce. It still appears but it does not cover as large of an amount of the screen.

I know this is an older set (circa 2002) but it's a quality TV and I just hope someone has had this fixed and can give me some info.

I just got mine back from a repair shop.

They diagnosed it as a bad panel. There are 2 on the inside board and they had no clue which one might be bad. They priced them out and each panel costs about $950.

Not worth the repair at all. I just have the TV in low power consumption mode with the brightness and contrast minimized greatly and the reddish snow has subsided for now.

Oh well, I'll use it till it dies.
