Just picked up a p50, apparently VERY used. It does work, but the picture is tragic. It has burnin (a permanent USA logo I can live with), a thin vertical (about 2-3 pixels wide) black line about 12 inches in from the left side running from top to bottom, kinda used to it so it's not a big issue. The main problem is that when I turn the unit on, it takes several minutes for the entire screen to "come to life", the picture I do have is very dim and washed out. Also, there is a rather large (approx. 30%) area on the right side of the screen that just refuses to light up, unless I hook it up to my computer and set the screensaver to pure white. When I do that, it takes several hours, but the black area dissipates, and the whole screen has a pale grey color. However, as soon as any other picture is input, the black areas reappear. If anyone has any suggestions (other than open window and toos!!) I would dearly appreciate it!!! Thanks!!

Return the unit ASAP, assuming you recently bought it and still have the receipt.

Trust me, it is NOT worth the trouble and/or potential hassle in the future.

Didn't buy it, just a toy lover hoping to breathe some life back into this thing. If not, I guess it'll go in the garage with the 17 or so othe LCD & PDP tv's collecting dust!!! LOL Thanks!!

Basically, my first interest is whether the main problem lies in a board or the screen itself. BTW, I have the set partially disassembled and have poked around inside, nothing in there scares me, so I can handle doing whatever is neede to resurrect this beast. I figure that since I carried it up 2 flights of steps by myself, ripping its guts out is cake!!
Also, don't know if it makes any diff, but it is a 7/05 model and an F30 serial. Thanks again!!

Sorry to be a PITA, but I've got another ? Is it possible to add a tuner board to this unit? If I get a tuner from a trashed P50HDTV, can I use it in the P50HDM? Thanks!!
