I've had the Samsung DLP for about 2.5 years now and while its been a good set during that time the picture is somewhat soft and for the room its in (decent chunk of natural light) makes me want more.

Looking at Costco I think we would like to get the TH-50PC77U - we sit 8-10' from the set so I didn't think I need to spend the extra money for the 1080p set.

My question to you guys is if it is truly an upgrade or if I'm only going to see a small difference between the two sets. The set I saw at costco seemed significantly brighter and crisper than my current DLP but then again it was about 3 feet above and 10 feet away from me.

Thanks in advance :)

I upgraded my old 61" HLN model dlp to the Sammy 63" 1080p PDP, model FPT6374 and have not looked back.

It was a huge upgrade imo.
