Okay, sorry to ask the same question that I am sure has been asked in one form or another a thousand times but I suppose I could use a little more public ridicule in my life.
I am purchasing the Panasonic 50pz77u and need to know what I need to purchase in order to hook it up to my computer for use as a monitor. I have read that it does not have a vga port. From reading earlier threads I gather that there are vga to hdmi cables and converters out there. Can anyone tell me what I will need or direct me to a thread where I can find out.
I suppose while I am embarrassing myself I might as well go ahead and ask what I will need as far as hdmi and dvi cables to hook up cable and dvd player to the tv also.
Sorry for the ridiculously lame newbie questions.

There are a lot of unanswered posts on AVS regarding DVI>HDMI which leads me to me to believe that answers aren't here. I played around with DVI>HDMI on my DVD recorder and Gigabyte 7600GS....my Olevia 32" didn't like it at all.
Maybe newer displays don't get all confused about only video, and no audio coming in on the HDMI......
I'd like to know how well the new cards and ne wdisplays sync up for HTPC with DVI>HDMI....

If your computers graphics card had a DVI plug you could use an HDMI to DVI cable to the TV. I don't think it's the best idea though, unless your only going to be using it as a display for very short periods of time. A lot of static imagery on a Plasma display is never a good idea, even with the reduction in burn-in we've seen the last couple of years.

travisand... I am having the same issue. I have bought a VGA to HDMI converter and have downloaded a program called Powerstrip in order to get the right resolution but I can't seem to find the right one. Have you had any luck?

Or get a new video card from your computer that supports DVI out and then get the DVI - HDMI cable.
Or save a little more money up and get the 700/750 with the PC/VGA input.
