Anyone else think it was all over the place? i had to keep turning it up and down because some of the dialogue was so quiet but then the sound effects were so over the top...crappy mixing im guessing...unless the really want me to go deaf during the movie.

It was perfect for me? I thought it was an aggressive, great sounding soundtrack.

I thought the British kids' scenes were all too quiet and pretty much everyone else's scenes were perfect. I had to turn the volume up to make out some of the dialog, too.

This could be my favorite BR in terms of audio. I also thought it was perfect for what it was. I've watched it 3 times since it came out. I had a screening of it for our new sound engineer and he loved it as well and was very, very impressed.

I agree. Awesome sound. The Bass was extremely aggressive w/ wonderful dynamic range. Movie (and sound) kept me on the edge of my seat.

yeah i definitely think the dialogue audio was all over the place, yes i dont live in a house so i cannot crank it to reference level, but when at a normal audio level for the action scenes, there was no way you could hear them speaking, well not all the time, the helicopter smashing zombie part was all clear and audible with the guy talking in the helo but right as the action stopped you can barely hear the Doyle character talking. I kind of experienced the same with with 300's audio. I dont think its my CSI5's fault either :)

well I live in an apt and even live above my landlord. Maybe I still crank it more than I should. But I love very dynamic tracks. You might be able to make adjustments on your receiver to compensate (ie dialnorm) for the broad dynamics.

i assume you're talking about the core dts track? how does it compare to Underworld?

i'd turn the subtitles on if i felt i can't make out the dialogue. and if they were speaking with british accents and using british terms (blagged? robbed) i will have it on for sure.

Sorry I haven't rewatched Underworld on BR. I lived with a guy obsessed with that movie and I don't think you could pay me to see it again. I listened to the straight up DTS-HD MA track bitstreamed from my 1400 to my 875. I would imagine the core sounds pretty darn well also. I wouldn't say it's the most amazing soundtrack I've ever heard, but all things considered I think it's perfect for the film.

nice to hear, i should be watching my Netflix copy tonight. PS3 to Sony STR-DG910 receiver via HDMI, so core only. you really should watch Underworld on Blu-ray, the audio is absolutely breath taking. how obsessed is your roommate to turn you off on watching Kate Beckinsale in that leather suit. they can practically just shoot her walking around in that outfit for 90 minutes and it'd be worth the price of admission.

yeah I probably will.
I'm a sucker for some ear candy and I've heard some raves about that title.

well i felt it was noticeably better than the 24bit lossless tracks on the two POTC movies. as good as House of Flying Daggers if not better.

Isn't that what the sequel was?:)
