Paramount to display “Transformers” film prop in L.A. for DVD & HD DVD release (http://www.highdefdiscnews.com/?p=281)

Paramount has sent out an e-mail via PR (Public Relations) that says in L.A. (Los Angeles) Tuesday, October 16th starting at 7:00 a.m., through Sunday, October 21st. A full-size, 18-foot tall, 8,200 pound traffic-stopping robot (of “Bumblebee” from “Transformers” being released today on HD DVD) will greet passers-by in the courtyard of the West Hollywood Gateway shopping center on the corner of La Brea and Santa Monica Blvd. This actual prop from the blockbuster film requires a forklift and 10 ton crane to assemble and set up and he will make for an extraordinary visual.

Since we’re located here on the East Coast and won’t be in the L.A. area to cover this we would like any of our readers out around L.A. to send in your photos. We’ll be more happy to credit you. So today is launch day as this is why they’re doing this promotion so go order your copy from Amazon or if you already have we hope you enjoy the HD DVD as much as we did! Hands down this is ONE OF THE BEST HD DVD’s RELEASED TO DATE.

I own a dry cleaning business in West Hollywood for the movie industry on Santa Monica and Kings Rd, 12 blocks from La Brea, i will gladly snap a picture of it and post it. I am in the same city West Hollywood.

After watching the HD-DVD about 3 times with different special features enabled, I can now tell during the movie when they used the life-sized replica and when it's CGI. The replica looks HORRIBLE in the movie. (they didn't really dress it to match the finished cgi... like no dirt, scratches, it was flawless)

Well at 8200 lbs I doubt its all plastic..

yeah i was at the premiere in westwood and it looked cool but it wasnt too impressive and it looked a lot like a toy

Yea. If you look at the regular DVD box it looks pretty cool. I dunno man. This is supposed to be a big big movie for HD-DVD, I was expecting a kickass box. And so far the image quality is awesome and the movie is fun. But really for me one of the main attractions of still buying movies fair and square are the asthetics that come with it. I love having a cool looking Movie collection... check the Matrix box for instance.

Heck honestly I can find a way to burn Transformers, write on a HD-DVDR with a crappy black pen and it wouldn't look much worse than what Paramount just gave me.

Maybe I'm spoiled. :)

The HD DVD looks like a bootleg. But Megan Fox is still bangin'.

I like the sleeve a lot, but the cover art looks like it was printed with a $40 Lexmark from Wal-Mart.
