Just picked up a Sony STR-DA3ES receiver with no remote and I HAVE to have volume control for the 2nd room (only available from the remote).

Any comments on whether the Harmony remotes would handle this? Don;t want to blow $80+ for nothing...

From your other posts, you seem to have a Vizio TV. Try this with your Vizio remote.
1. Set your DVD or VCR device code to 31058 (I don't know which one will accept that code. The remote should blink twice if it accepts the code)
2. Press and release DVD or VCR, depending on which one you set the device code to
3. Press and hold SETUP until the remote blinks twice
4. Type 994
5. Press and release SETUP
6. Type 32859
7. Press and release Vol+

That should set the vol+ on DVD device button as second room vol+ on the receiver
Do the same with code 31835 on step 6 and vol- button on step 7.

bad news - didn't work, and I didn't get a chance to experiment further before going otu of town on business
good news - found the original remote on eBay for $28 shipped
bad news - manual is so poor I can't figure out how to get the 2nd room speaker volume to change!!
