Anyone build a communicating door arrangement in a single jamb?

Corresponding wall construction is 5/8, GG, 5/8, 3.625" Steel stud, 5/8 (all blueboard + veneer plaster; wall filled with fiberglass).

Trying to get close to the wall STC with lowest cost door option.

Thinking about Masonite Safe and Sound, properly gasketed, in a communicating arrangement in the same jamb. I can custom build the jamb.

See my sketch below.

While I don't have a communicating door I stayed at Holiday Inn Express last night.

I've read that the purists with a double double wall design, keep the jamb split all around with a rubber gasket filling the gap. Others do just what you've diagrammed.

Yes - I have a single wall, and given the rough opening is framed in wood (although wall is steel), I didn't think splitting the jamb bought me anything.

(In hindsight, I may need to hinge both sides in common, will have to offset the hardware to accomodate)
