About 3 weeks ago I had AT&T install it's U-verse package in my home. Everything had been going great until about a week ago when a recurring issue has developed with my TV.
I have a Samsung LNT4032 hooked up through component cables to the Motorola DVR box that AT&T provided. This issue I'm having is that the picture will go out; turn completely black, but the sound can still be heard. If I turn just the TV off, then back on, it comes right back with both picture and sound. Here's the wierd part; when the picture goes out, I can physically change sources on the TV, but they have no picture either. I can't even see the source prompt on the TV while switching through components, but can tell it is switching based on sound from said sources. They only way to get the picture back is to turn the TV off then back on.
At first I thought it was an issue with the TV, but if I put the TV on starting with another source like my XBOX, this never happens. I have tested it over and over again. For instance, I played about 9 hours straight on my XBOX yesterday and this didn't happen even once, but once I switch to the AT&T box, it happens right away.
I have tried switching the input from the DVR to the TV to a HDMI cable, same issue. I also tried switching to a different component input on the TV, again, the same thing happens. It's extremely frustrating since it goes out every 5 mins or so.
I can't wrap my mind around how this is happening and which device is causing it. If it is the DVR, how is it possible that it cancels out the picture on the other sources when switched to them? I even unplug the power to the DVR when this happens, and I can't get the picture to return to the TV on any other source until I turn the TV off then back on. If it is the TV that's causing this, how come it only happens when using the DVR an no other sources?
Any help is appreciated, I can't get anyone on the phone from AT&T until Monday and there's lots of football to watch tomorrow. Thank you!
