Hello all,
I have a JVC 70FH97 TV and a Rotel RSP-1068 surround processor. I'm looking for a universal remote under $500 that can select the correct input on the TV and match that to the correct audio source.
I have both HDMI connections on the TV in use (blu ray and dvd player) and I'm also using a component input from the cable box.
It's incredibly slow switching between inputs on the TV itself so I guess I'm looking for a remote that has discrete codes for the different inputs.
I'm a total newbie to universal remotes BTW, so any help would be appreciated!

I would expect any Harmony to be able to accomplish this, but because of your tricky TV inputs, you may want to consider a source where a return is an option if it doesn't work. Your best value bet might be the Harmony 720 from Costco for $120, but they can be hard to find in stock (none left in the Los Feliz Costco last time I checked).

LoveBug,
I've had the same TV for a year and have searched extensively for discrete HDMI inputs with no success. There is a HDMI 1/2 toggle command and a discrete command for component video input, but the problem lies in the toggle which can throw off the system.
My workaround is to run my 2 HDMI components and one component video through my Yammy receiver (which can switch discretely). This currently suits my needs although I'd prefer a direct connection to the TV. Also, if i add any more HDMI components then I'll need to invest in an external HDMI switcher.
My remote is a Pronto 3500. Works great.rr

Thank you for that. Unfortunately my AV processor does not have any HDMI inputs. I guess I could invest in an external switcher, but I'm reluctant to add a possible source of signal degradation and additional complexity and/or new problems. I have read that there are still problems passing HDCP signals propertly and HDMI 1.3 is barely supported yet. I think I'll just deal with the toggle issue for the moment. LOVE the TV so far!
Here is Digital 2

I then used the toggle to get me to digital 1

Don't do Harmony but could show you how to do this in RTI, Philips or URC(ick).
BTW the Audio Authority HDMI switches do not degrade the IMAGE AT ALL. Well aside from the fact that its HDMI 1.2A compliant. BUt if your dealing with a cable box that won't pass a receiver. IT HAS WORKED WITH EVERY BOX I THREW AT IT.

Which remote do you recommend under $500? The RTIs look pretty nice and they have some new models out in '08.
