I have a weird misconvergence happening intermittently when I use my projector. While looking at a white/light background (easiest to notice), the background goes from white to vertical bands of very light blue and light red. This is when I am using the projector in theater black 2 mode. I find that if I change the mode from theater black to dynamic and back again the convergence is fine.

I have the dynamic iris on. Can the convergence change while the dynamic iris on? Also, I have about 190 hours on the projector.

I still have time to return this projector. Does anyone think this symptom will get worse? If so, I'll get a replacement.

Thanks,

Clint

Hi Folsom,

Sounds more like something with the panel drive if you're seeing 'bands'. This problem was common in older LCD's, but I haven't heard anyone mention it with the newer units.

Mis-convergence is where you see colour fringing when viewing a cross-hatch pattern. Most 3 panel projectors have some degree of mis-convergence, but ususally you can only see it when viewing a pattern, and it doesn't go away.

I'd send it back for a replacement.
