I thought it was next week. It was originally 10/23 but they moved it back a week, and simultaneous pushed back the week the demo was released. I know i read that here and I know the demo (on the PSN not the DVD version) was a week late. Is this not the case for the final release -- perhaps it was, shocking, posted incorrectly here?

Any info on how many levels for R&C:ToD or how long this game will take to finish? I will most likely pick it up, unless I get feedback that it is really short or lacks depth.

i thought i heard somewhere that this one is closer to 30 hoursThis sounds like a safe bet judging by prior games in the series. Also, based on the prior games, there's a high degree of replayability (unlockables, secrets, and more weapons). I'm sure it'll be worth its retail price.

I've read on numerous gaming sites EB Games and Gamestop are the retailers that get it a week early. I know the Gamestop I go to has a big poster that says it releases on the 23rd. Can't wait.

2 reviews on gamerankings.com has given it 93/100 and 9.5.

The game will be awesome, as were the others. There is just so much to do in every game, it is amazing and so enjoyable. I'll get the game this weekend(too much work this week) and I can't wait!

You've been trying too hard, apparently.

I just called the Gamestop where I have it on pre-order. They say it'll be the 24th--which is just fine with me. I have too much to do tomorrow to play as it is, and I don't want the game looking at me....

Yeah I see this alot. The release dates are the dates the game ships, Gamestop usually has them a day after that in the AM. Sometimes it ships early or with some titles the Managers go and pick the games up (I think from UPS). You might check Tuesday night...it's possible...

It seems odd that Gamestop would get it first and that Walmart (I believe they are Gamestop's biggest competitor) would not. I'll check there tomorrow too...

GrooveRite - I have you tried Heavenly Sword? Must rent game in my book...

Just phoned my local Best Buy, here in Canada, and was told it won't be selling until the 25th. :( The Sony Store doesn't even know when they're supposed to get the game. So I sit and wait. Or pace around and wait. :p

instantpop

Grrr. This is what upsets me the absolute most about game sales. Why isn't there a standard? CD's and DVD's all come out on Tuesdays. You KNOW what you are looking for will be in the store on TUESDAY! Why, oh why, can we not have the same consistency when it comes to games? This whole, "no, the 23rd is the SHIP date" crap is useless.

And why do stores have to be so confused about when they can put a game on the shelves? If your Best Buy has the thing sitting in boxes in the back (which I gather they probably due based on the Playstation Blog entry) why not just put the thing out so people can come in and purchase it? Makes no sense to me.

If a standard was set so many issues would remedy themselves:
1. Employees would actually be knowledgable of what they've got in stock - just like when you go in and ask for a new release DVD or CD that isn't actually on the shelf yet but sitting on a cart somewhere.

2. Employees would be less annoyed with customers constantly calling and looking for something.

3. Customers would certainly be less annoyed - obviously.

The only drawback I see to games having a consistent on shelf date is that Gamestop employees would no longer have their last bastion of trying to be cool and hard ass when it comes to responding to whether or not they have a game in stock. I swear, every time I used to (emphasis on used to) go in there you'd think the latest release was some sort of backstage pass to a Rolling Stones concert or something and the employee was the fat ugly roadie expecting some sort of favor from your girlfriend just to check and see if they had it. PUH-LEASE.

I agree with all your points, instantpop. The Best Buy guy couldn't get me off the phone fast enough at 10:00 am in the morning. And when I asked him when it would be on sale, he sounded pissed off. The Sony Store guy, on the other hand, was very polite, but hadn't even heard of the game! Huh?? That's like working at a kitchen center and not knowing what a KitchenAid is!!

'sigh'

I know, it's terrible. When did the shift happen from "pleasing the customer" to stores acting like they are doing you a favor? And I don't want anybody giving me the "they don't get paid enough to care" garbage line, either. Maybe if they did care they wouldn't be stuck working there. I had a brother that worked for Best Buy for a couple years. His store was phenomenal. Everyone was always helpful and actually gave a crap about their jobs. Maybe if more people followed suit they'd actually enjoy what they were doing just a bit more.

Am I the only person who hasn't dealt with any crap from a Gamestop employee even once in all the years I've shopped there?

I called yesterday to find out whether they would have it on the 23rd or 24th, and it took all of about 45 seconds for him to pull it up in the computer and tell me the 24th with a slight chance of getting it out late today.

Where do you live, bassmonkee? I've had a few decent encounters at Gamestop stores but the bad far outweigh the good. My issue is that as a 31 year old man, I don't appreciate being treated like a 12 year old kid when I go into a store and ask for a game. When I come in and ask if you have "X" game in stock and the only thing you're going to do as a GS employee is bring it up on your computer vs. checking the unpacked box sitting right next to you on the floor, you've lost any respect you may have deserved from me in the first place. I don't like being talked down to.

It used to be you were taught to address everyone with dignity and respect - you never know who you could be talking to (that's how I built my business). Now it's more an attitude of being treated like a nobody because it's just assumed that you don't really matter. Well, I like to think that my wallet matters and I will never set foot in a GS/EB ever again. All my used games go on Craigslist or Ebay where I make more money off them anyway. When it comes to buying games, I find the store that is the lesser of all evils. These days, that's Target, where the kids who work in the games section actually give a rip.

For the most part I have no issues. Most of the time people treat you as you treat them. Some people go into these stores with an attitude, some people complain about games being sold out, not out yet or about trad in prices and berate the staff. Younger members of the workfroce do tend to buckle under bad treatment and give it back. While its not right and its unprofessional, we are talking about kids. And when adults treat them like crap because they have a dead end job they are more likely to treat them less than ideal in return.

These kids do not set the prices for games nor do they control shipping. They are also dealing with a less than up to date inventory system NOT controlled by their branch.

I was in the other day to buy Puzzle Quest and a 20 year old kid spent 20 min searching for a copy even though the (out of date) system said they did not have one because he was sure they did. And he did find it! Thats pretty damn good customer service.

There's one Gamestop near here that is at that level at the Mall of America (at least it used to be about 5 years ago). Sadly, that's a 30 minute drive for me that I'm just not going to make.

As for the employee treatment, I see that point, too. However, that's not the case with me. I used to always go in there walking on eggshells because I knew the odds were they were dealing with a-holes all day already. Problem with that is that they automatically assume you are one of them, too, and treat you as such off the bat.

Sorry, my job is hard, too. Doesn't give me the right to treat my customers like garbage. If I ran a store and someone came in asking me if something was in stock, I'd check the unopened box right behind me. Plain and simple.

You are 31, the average GS employee here in Upstate NY (We have seven in 25 miles) is probably 23. IMHO they do a damn fine job for what another poster pointed out is hardly a leap from burger flipping.

And heaven help those poor bastards who are 30+ and still working for GS... They can be angry and treat me less than ideal all day long... makes me feel less sorry for them :)

I live in Atlanta. I used to use the Gamestop in Duluth when I lived there. No problems at either one, really.

The closest I came to a problem in a Gamestop was when the guy checking out my trade-ins and purchases was OCD and kept answering Pokemon game questions for a different customer (who was currently being helped by a different employee who apparently wasn't quite as up on his Pokemon). I eventually got tired of waiting and said, "Look, if you two want to switch customers so the guy with the Pokemon knowledge is helping the guy with the questions, I won't be offended. But, I'm tired of waiting for him to take 5 minutes to put the info from my driver's license in the computer." OCD-Boy snapped out of it, they switched customers and I got out of there. I wasn't a dick about it--I just took charge of the situation, and everyone benefited.

You can't expect everyone to be a rocket scientist in retail--especially drones at the low end of the totem pole. It's a recipe for failure. I get more frustrated with the Executive VPs that I send reconciliations and other research to who can't open a spreadsheet and need their hand held than I do with a 17 year old who looks something up on a computer instead of opening a box. If I have to say, "Hey--think that game that is supposed to come out today might be in that box by your feet that the UPS guy just dropped off?" I'll get over it if he doesn't think of it himself.

The only drones that I get uppity with are waitresses and waiters who think they are too cool for school. Sometimes I have to remind them, "You do know that your job consists of pouring coffee, right? Why the attitude like you discovered calculus, Archimedes?"

This is only said after they have brought my food, of course. :D

Seriously, though, you can't expect a 20-something minimum wage employee to treat people (including themselves) with respect. But, when they do act like helpful, respectful, kind people, it's a wonderful treat. I've found most GS employees in my area to be decent men and women. They know gaming and don't try to push hard sells on me. Maybe it's the non-boys' club atmosphere that encourages them not to act like a-holes. Maybe it's the fact that people like me ()give them a sense that gaming isn't a dead-end profession/hobby. More often than not, it's the customers who treat the employees like ****. Bad employees are bad employees no matter what business you're in; they don't last long.

Regardless, I often only browse at GS, and only buy something if it's a relatively rare find (found a copy of MGS3: Subsistence for $25 a couple weeks back). Otherwise, all my game shopping is done online or at Target.

Ok, this is just unacceptable that you should already have the game and I don't! Not fair AT ALL!! It's a good thing we appear to be able to say "big tits" in here, cuz otherwise my whole day would have been ruined! :p

Questions:
1) Were the cut-scenes any sharper?
2) Can you invert the aim and camera?
3) Did the sublime awesomeness of that first level outdo your expectations?
4) Do you mind if I call you a big bastard?

big tits big tits big tits big tits...

Now I'm just being silly and immature.
Fine! Except, what's wrong with smelling like stinky feet? Try smelling like a dead hobo. See how far that gets ya. Although, I find that nothing quite gets the smell of wet dog out of the back of the minivan like a dead hobo. It's a good tip to remember.

Well, I come from a military background, so I know and understand what you mean. It's just proper business etiquette. I think that if you work with customers, you should treat them with respect, and it should be common practice. But there are a lot of things that don't work out the way they should, and sadly, there's nothing anyone can really do about it. Just be thankful for those good employees/people out there.

Anyway, don't know how a R&C review thread turned into a Gamestop bitch thread, but I am planning on running to my nearest Gamestop this evening after work to (hopefully) pick this up and payoff GH3. I'll post impressions tonight if I get it.

IGN REVIEW

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/829/829409p1.html

10 Presentation

Insomniac has created its most intriguing and diverse universe yet. The story is strong and ends with closure and a cliffhanger (figure that one out), while load times rarely exist.

9.5 Graphics

"Fantastic" is what comes to mind when describing the sights you'll see. A rock-solid framerate, crazy effects, a terrific art design and environmental activity galore. Prettiest thing on the system.

8.5 Sound

The recurring V/O cast puts in another high-end (and hilarious) performance. The surround sound effects make the most of your receiver as well and the musical score fits well.

9.5 Gameplay

Insomniac has the Ratchet and Clank formula down pat and the balance and progression of the shooting/ platforming/ space battles has be refined to award-winning levels. Fun, fun, fun!

9.0 Lasting Appeal

You're looking at a good 12-15 hour quest the first time through, plus a challenge mode option, tons of upgradeable weapons, plenty of clandestine areas, secret skins, cheats, cinematics and more.

9.4

Outstanding OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Whether you're new to R&C or someone who has played them all, Ratchet and Clank Future deserves to be in your library no matter what. Not only has it supplanted Going Commando as the best title in the franchise, it's also the best game of any series on the PlayStation 3 thus far -- and that's saying a lot when you're up against Oblivion, Ninja Gaiden, Warhawk and Insomniac's very own previous effort, Resistance: Fall of Man.

Congratulations Full Moon folks, you're two for two.

Hey everyone I was able to get the game today at Walmart here in San Diego. If you live in San Diego and arent affected by the crazy fires going on the store in Murphy Canyon near Fry's only has 2 copies left.

Here's how my day went.I went to Best Buy first they didnt have the game which didnt surprise me.So I checked both my gamestop stores in my town which are both across the street from each other and less than a mile away from each other. The first gamestop had a poster of the game listed as being released on 10/24 while the other gamestop had the same poster up with the release being 10/31.So I ask both empolyees at both stores and they both give me some story about how the UPS trucks held up their shipments because of the fire.So at the gamestop store where the store tells me they will have the game in tommrow I decide to put $5 bucks down for a pre order to get the game tommrow.I get home check this thread and read about Walmart having the game and selling it today. So I called up my closest Walmart and have them hold me my copy of the game.So after I go down to Walmart and buy the game.I went back to the gamestop store where I pre ordered the game to cancel my pre order for the game. While I was there I also checked to see how much trade in value I could get for NCAA Football 2008. Motorstorm, and Resistance Fall Of Man.So after I got my estimate for the games which I got $17 for Resistance, $15 for NCAA Football 2008, and $10 for Motorstorm, a guy in line behind who was buying used games offered me $20 for Resistance which I sold to him in the parking lot.Seriously gamestop as a store has lost a lot of respect and a lot of future buisiness from me.

I'll try to post some pictures from the game later tonight.

Off to play a couple hours of the game now.

So, what exactly did Gamestop do that was so bad to you?

The Walmart around here had Ratchet and Clank. Great game so far. The green jell-o gun was cool.

Walmart also had Oblivion GOTY edition but I gotta save for Uncharted and CoD4.
