View Full Version : Does PS3 support DIVX burn on cds?? Goatse 10-22-07, 01:51 PM anyone?? Goatse 10-22-07, 03:58 PM bump chap 10-22-07, 04:06 PM PS3 doesn't support Divx at all. RobynLiquorstorz 10-23-07, 07:09 AM and it most likely never will. sony makes not only ps3's but s sh!t-ton of movies as well. DIVX is EVERYBODY's favorite format for bootlegging, so i'm pretty sure that sony will never encourage you to bootleg using their gear. mind you, i got a BEAUTIFUL upscaling samsung dvd-recorder/vhs combo for less than 4 that also plays divx files easily. i'd have never caught up on lost season 3 without it . . . RobynLiquorstorz 10-23-07, 07:10 AM BUT i know of people who've installed linux on the ps3 and run divx from there, but it seems like far too much hassle, and it kinda cripples part of the ps3 to do it, so i just passed and bout the samsung player . . . wallace3d 10-23-07, 07:21 AM Just like to add: There are several Sony dvd players available that play divx, so I wouldn't be that surprised if Sony did eventually license divx for the PS3. awx 10-23-07, 07:27 AM Linux will do it and it doesn't cripple any part of the PS3. Recent kernels have improved bluetooth support for the Sixaxis and remote. And Sony already sells movie converting software for the PSP. The DivX logo was in the Home beta. Time will tell. Hopefully we'll find out soon what the divx logo signifies. Maybe it's more than just content from the divx network. |
