SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Electronic Arts Inc (ERTS.O), the world's biggest video game publisher, said on Monday it will delay "Army of Two" to early next year, saying it needed more time to polish the military combat game.

Not surprising. There hadn't been much released about this game recently, which always makes you wonder. I think the concept sounds great, but I wouldn't have picked it up this holiday because of all the other titles out there...
instantpop 10-22-07, 05:48 PM I think that "polish" is the avoidance of Call of Duty 4. And I say that with all seriousness.

That's what I thought too. I wasn't going to buy Army Of Two because the winter line-up for PS3 is huge. But since Army Of Two got delayed I might consider it.
This makes me look at Kane and Lynch even more now. Now I can have a chance to save up for Christmas...
You mean the market wasn't already saturated with enough FPS? /sarcasm
Halo3
Haze
UT3
COD4
Jericho
Blacksite: Area 51
HL:Orange Box
Kayne and Lynch: Dead Men
I was really looking forward to Army of 2. The amount of delays is just ridiculous

Probably... the movie industry gets selective about release dates to avoid blockbusters so I am sure this is not a good sign from the developers about the ability of this game to hold up to some of the other "blockbusters" coming out soon.

Yep, and I think you're starting to see more and more movie practices being put in place when it comes to big games. No way anybody was releasing anything within the Halo 3 window. And with all the hype (well deserved, imo) that COD4 is getting, nothing else that anybody wants to have a chance in that genre is going to be near it. Factor in the other big one (Assassin's Creed if it delivers) and many gamers are set for the fall.
Of course, pushing it to 2008 may hurt more than help with other games like MGS4 and GTA IV coming out. That's not necessarily a calendar I'd want to mess with, either.

Meh, MGS and GTA aren't FPSs. I might have recovered from the shooter onslaught by then.
jasonstiller 10-22-07, 08:42 PM Kinda glad It got delayed. I really want it but problably wouldnt w/ everything else coming out this year

Army of Two isn't an FPS either.

Oh, is it a 3rdPS? The distinction is subtle these days.

From everything I've seen, Army of Two is anything but your typical shooter. The emphasis on co-op should set it apart from the pack, which makes you wonder a bit what the real delay reason is. Shooter, yes. Typical, no. It's either going to be flippin' great or suck really, really bad.

Army of Two should be pretty sweet. I dont mind it getting delayed theres a TON of games similar coming out in the next few months. Kane and Lynch being the most similar.
so's your face 10-23-07, 02:06 AM army of 2 was #2 on my list barely trailing HAZE... i'm very anxious for this game.
I received my December issue of oxm a few days ago and they gave Kane & Lynch an 8. They did complain about the multiplayer.co-op is split screen only.online you can play against seven other in a heist,if you decide to kill one of them the will respawn as a cop.

I feel the same about this one.
Conspiracy* 10-23-07, 11:26 AM After watching the new videos 3 in october alone, Im convinced this delay is purely just to avoid some of the other big titles. If the videos are showing gameplay, the game looks awesome and very close to being done.

Agreed. Maybe while they are holding it up they can remove the completely unnecessary giant meter in the middle of the screen. To this day I don't understand the need for it since there are several other visual cues that indicate who's "Aggro" is higher. BTW, Aggro is a term put in place so 14 year old boys think they are playing the coolest thing EVER.
Jaren613 10-23-07, 02:44 PM Meh, I saw the video for their so called aggro system and I almost wanted to laugh, this made me feel like this game was definately not complex.
All that system does is simplify the AI to the point of retardedness. Make good AI and similar outcomes will occur (if you shoot at enemies, they will focus on you instead of your buddy). But they set it up so they focuse on the biggest guns and biggest guns only. So if I sit there with an M16 and spray at enemies, my partner can slowly pick at them with a pistol and they will still continue to look at me. That's just silly.
If an enemy gets shot, regardless of what, they should at least try to avoid getting shot again, not blindly fire at some other dude just because his gun is bigger.
The aggro system felt like an excuse to cover up bad AI while still trying to implement a decent "team gameplay" setup.
I'll pass.
