Hi, I have a 50" plasma with Comcast HD DVR receiver. I've had the setup for over 1 year without problems. Now, I'm seeing that for HD channels I get spotty or incomplete signal. It's that "digital graininess" that you also see on computers sometimes.

Here's what I observed:

- When the cable line comes from the wall straight to the receiver the picture is fine.
- When I use a splitter and connect one of the outputs to the receiver and the other to my cable modem I see the problem.
- When I disconnect the coax from the cable modem end but still leave the coax connected to the 2nd ouput on the splitter I see the problem.
- When I use the splitter without the 2nd ouput coax connected at all the picture is fine.

I have tried 2 splitters and all combinations of coax cables. Any ideas? It seems bizarre to me that without any changes this starts happening out of the blue.

It seems to me that when the coax and/or cable modem is connected to the splitter, the signal degrades. So, either the cable and/or the cable modem is causing a problem.

Why not call you cable provider to resolve? Other than your time, it shouldn't cost you a dime.
