The Sub gets a bad rap. It gets to be the sh!tty little decimal point in the codec names, and all the ones in "HT in a box" set ups give speakers in general a bad name.

So please, no need to lie about what kind of sub/s you have. Just list the HDM titles that you think really work them out.

It is my favorite channel.:D

1. The Transporter
2. Transformers
3. Band of Brothers JP import

DAWN OF THE DEAD (remake), I just installed a new Onkyo system and had the pretty massive sub behind the couch I was lounging on. I almost had to change undies a couple times. Scary film, with some scary bumpin.

Hd DVD - Matrix Revolutions is pretty hard core.

HD DVD - Hot Fuzz had loads of powerful and deep bass, even at unusual moments (door opening, etc.),

HD DVD - Smokin' Aces has very deep and nice bass in the background music.

I own most of these titles. But after reading I may rent Pulse. Even though I watched it far too many times on DVD. (rented it, got half way thru, fiancee got home, started over, next day she wanted us to watch it with her freinds.) 2 1/2 viewing in 36 Hours.

Indeed. It's been a long time since I watched my Superbit Das Boot but I'm pretty sure it had some pretty sweet audio (maybe not LFE though, can't remember) as well.

Deja Vu really works the sub!
Underworld is definitely up there as well.

Hell yeah on the depth charges. The sounds in that movie are amazing. All the little creaks and noises in the sub. good stuff!

LOTR:RotK many places, especially with the mumakil attack on Minas Tirith
Star Wars all 6 have pretty good use
War of the Worlds had great LFE
TREX Footstep

Silent Hill on Blu-ray, playing the PCM soundtrack, will push any subwoofer extremely hard. It rocks my 700 watt Klipsch 15 inch like no other movie.

You guys are all insane.

Happy Feet wins by a mile. I have a 200W powered sub and 2300W powered LFE shakers and no movie (including Transformers) rock the theater as much as Happy Feet.

Hot Fuzz, 300, U-571 ... nothing comes close to Happy Feet.

True! Happy Feet was extreme in the seal scene for example.

bingo...I use this scene to impress friends on the capabilities of my silent subwoofer...you know, the one mounted under my couch :)

Another one, not normally thought of....Sea Biscuit.

The depth charges in U-571

+1

Nothing better. Actually BLEW OUT my previous sub. Well it fried it kinda, and I needed to get the electronics unfried hahaa. Edit II: The second (or is the the third? the second with the good guys in the U-boat) Depth Charge sequence later into the movie is even better. The US sub getting torpedoed is pretty good base moment also.

New sub has no problems, but this really shakes the house. LOTR, SW II when Obi-Wan is chasing Fet into the asteroid field those seismic charges work nicely.

The beginning Ind Day when the ships are arriving. LOTR FOTR Moria ending, CoR necro's arriving and many other scenes, The truck chase at the beginning of T3 is NUTS, The Harley and the truck in T2... So many choices.

Edit: wanted to add the highway chase scene in The Island with the train axles oooh man. Maybe not all base, but it sounds incredible.

Cheers,

Richard

If we are restricting this to HDM movies only then I say both the plane flying overhead and the building coming down in Casino Royale.

I'd like to mention a title it seems no one has brought up yet. Blood Diamond on HD DVD. The movie isn't all bass, but the moments that use the sub utilize it to the fullest. Not only does the bass sound great, but the entire audio track on that movie is incredible. One of my favorites.

Of course, others that have been mentioned (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, The Matrix Trilogy and Happy Feet) are all excellent examples as well.

SVS has put together a nice list of movies and cds that give subs some serious nightmares.

Not HD but I have to bring up an unlikely pick: The opening scene of "Titan A.E.".

When those ships take off and the planet bursts into a million pieces... wow. Say what you will about the movie but the sound in that scene is earth-shaking if you turn the volume up!
