What's up all,
I read the first few pages of the "Surge Protector" thread but I can't read 44 pages worth of it to figure this out and people keep going back and forth on what to get :-)
I also posted this same question there, but I really need a pretty quick answer...Cause I really need to get something set up pretty quickly so other things don't happen.

My Tivo is shot...Froze up at 1:37am 2 nights ago. Now it won't boot back up...Tivo says the HDD is shot. I agree. I think it might have been a power surge of some kind through either the coax cable or the network line. Lucky it happened with the return time to CC so my wife is bringing it back today to replace it.

I have at least 3 $50 - $100 surge supressors (APC and Monser) that all of my HD equiptment is pluged into.

I have never had any problems with this since I moved to Verizon Fios cable from comcast. I wonder if they do something different...Ever since I switched my TV has been doing some weird things (power-wise) and now the TIVO is dead.

I need HELP!

Like I said I have all of the equiptment plugged into power strips with surge protection. So do I need to buy new ones? Or maybe something better in front of those that will take the hit? I also need something for my data-lines. Only one of the power strips have coax-in/out. Anything recommended for that...Would rather not have to but a full new power strip just to get the protection for the data-lines, but I will if I have to.

Here is my set up:
Samsung DLP TV
Tivo S3 with 2 cable cards
Reciever
Game systems

I have x-10 light switches so I have the power strips pluged into a "noise reducer" since the strips where interfiering with the x-10 signals.

Thanks very much for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your serious about it, go and get some quality Battery backup Uninterruptable power supplies. The designes run constantly on DC from the batteries, pretty much makes for the most consistant simulated sign wave on the output possible.

I have APC LE1200 voltage regulator/surge suppressors's on three HD tvs with FIOS. I have had a DLP on one for two years, and now two LCD's. It is an excellent power regulator as well as surge suppressor, not expensive. No battery back up, four plug inputs, excellent.
If you do get a surge, you just reset the front switch and its good to go again.

I am including a link to where I purchased mine as they have the best prices:

So JOHNnDENVER, I assume you mean something from APC?

Thanks mes444, so should I use that as my "front-end" (wall power into this) and then plug my other power strips (surge protectors) into this?

Is there anything out there allow the same lines that I can put the coax into and my network cables into?

Or at least the coax, that way I can go into it before the modem gets the coax feed.

Thanks again!

I was thinking of the APC LE1200 on the front end (TV + TIVO plugged in there) along with Tripplite Protect It! / 8-Outlet / 3690 Joules / Surge Suppressor:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=523934&body=REVIEWS#tabs

plugged into the LE1200 also...Which I would then run my coax and network cables through the Tripplite.
Would that have me pretty much covered for the time being?
Or should I go with something like the "Brickwall" in the front-end instead of the APC?

I would even go with something like the APC BackUPS:
http://www.apcc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm

But it just seems that only 2 plugs are "surge protected" or is the "backup" plugs also protected?

Thanks!

I plug these power regulators directly into the wall outlet. I think you have to do that to get the power regulation, which is probably more important than just surges as it goes up and down all the time. I think some people then plug other strips into this regulator like you are asking, but you'd have to check with APCC for info on that to be sure. (I don't really think you need additional surge protectors added to this, but check with APCC, I just use this, nothing else.)

Well the LE1200 only has 2 plugs, I definitely need more than that.
I am not saying I am going to go out and buy more surge protector strips...I would just plug my existing power strips (surge protectors) into this. Is that what I should do?

I was just looking at this...APC Power Conditioner H10:
http://www.onsale.com/shop/detail~dpno~7045651~action~reviews.aspx

Would that do what the LE1200 does, plus other protection?

Thanks again for all of the info!

The LE1200 has four plugs, but still if you need more, the one you linked to looks very good. Maybe try to find some reviews on it, I didn't need anything that big. Generally APC has good products.

mes, I think I changed my mind again (I hate deciding), but it seems that the Belkin PureAV F60 is going to best suit my needs:
http://www.laaudiofile.com/belkinpf60.html (this is just a write up)

It seems like it have everything that I would need including the datalines...

The APC H15 looks good also, but it seems that it "makes noise"...
