View Full Version : Where do you get rid of old movies/games (besides Ebay)
capecodguy 10-23-07, 03:28 PM Now that I have a PS3 I've got bunches of old XBox games and regular DVD movies I'd like to sell. Where can I get the most bang for my buck (realizing I'm looking at pennies on the dollar) other than Ebay which is just too much work IMHO.
Megalith 10-23-07, 03:29 PM eBay isn't too much work if you are selling in large groups.
Trading games in at retail is just not worth it, unless they are running some kind of special promotion.
Rhino5167 10-23-07, 03:31 PM I heard that some people sell their games on Craigs List
Protopet 10-23-07, 03:36 PM FYE has always given me the most money/credit back for games and movies. I've tried other places, but it is pathetic what some stores will give you back. You just have to try a few stores and ask them.
Just EBay...sorry.
might want to try the movies in the marketplace here. I've sold a couple of things for more than i would have gotten on EBay just because of the surcharges.
Gotten quite a few good deal here at the marketplace also.

I swear by FYE also. In fact, I purchased my ps3 there totally with in store credit. But if its older stuff, its not going to be worth much anywhere.
whyidie 10-23-07, 08:44 PM Craigslist is pretty solid if you're in a well populated area.
bkchurch 10-23-07, 09:55 PM Sorry but eBay is about the only place you're gonna make decent money off of them. Places like Gamestop and FYE are only going to give you store credit and they're not gonna give you much for XBox games and DVDs.
robottik 10-23-07, 10:10 PM I tell ya the money Gamestop offers for tradeins is an insult. I just ebay old games now. It's really not much work. Heck you can print shipping labels and postage quickly online, and the post office will even pick up outgoing shipments if you want. Or for most small packages (ie most games & dvds) just drop them off in a padded envelope in any mailbox.
joeblow 10-24-07, 12:54 AM Suncoast if it is in your area.
bradyman 10-24-07, 02:10 AM no way, Jose(s)! check out gametz (you can figure out the ending :)
ebay is a waste for something that costs so little, you'll probably get hosed.
it's all user based, free, trades through mail. I've done really well with it, some buying, some trading. I think the ps3 is "old enough" that people are up for trading now.
Mindwarper 10-24-07, 01:20 PM Craiglist or ebay. Try grouping games together, it is less work. Also think about keeping the classics. I have sold a game and then rebought it too many times. Now I almost never sell any game. Also consider trades with friends. For what I can get at a local gamespot, I would rather give it to a friend than bend over for them.
iambroke 10-25-07, 01:41 PM Try Half.com . It is a site owned by ebay that makes selling games, dvds, books, and cds much easier. I've been selling with them for a few years now. Once you set up your account selling is very simple. All you have to do is find the game you want to sell on the site, list the condition of the game, list the price, and write a short description. It takes me maybe 2 minutes to list an item and the prices are up there with ebay.
whyidie 10-25-07, 10:50 PM Good call on Half.com. I forgot about them once Ebay bought them.
stevesns69 10-26-07, 12:04 AM I tried to trade Call Of Duty 3, F.E.A.R., and The Darkness today at Gamestop and they offered me $30!! I laughed at them and walked out. What an insult for games that they sell for $60 new and $40 to $50 used. PS3 games can't get all scratched up like other games other that Blu-ray, so they had no reason for such a low price offer. I'll keep them before I give them away or wait for an even trade, if possible.
