I am planning on going to Europe for two weeks early next year. I am most likely going to buy the Sony HDR-SR7, but I dont want to take a laptop with me since we are going to be moving around a lot. I was wondering if there is a way to hook up the camera to an external hard drive without having to use a PC and yet still back up my files?

If I were travelling I'd use something like this. It seems designed for the SR7/8. It burns HD dvd's right off the camera and uses standard dvds.

The disks aren't playable in regular dvd players... just PS3's (I believe), Blu-Ray DVD players, and itself of course. Still, a good way to archive the files in hi def I think.
