I have my PS3 and my media pc close to each other. The media pc has a bluetooth dongle in it. The media pc also has an ir receiver in it. I am running Girder and can run macros based on ir input.

Would it be possible for the media pc to transmit the corresponding bluetooth signal based on the ir received? This would make a great ir transceiver for the PS3. Can the PS3 bluetooth remote be decoded so that the media pc can emulate it?

Better to get an IR receiver for the PS3. Lots of threads here discussing this.

The problem with the IR receiver is that there are no power on/off options.

Maybe, but that's going to be your best bet.

Possible but not a project for those without programming knowledge. As far as I know there are no programs that can emulate a Bluetooth remote yet.

I'd personally just wait for the Bluetooth combination IR universal remotes.
