I hope I'm posting in the appropriate forum...
I have a new Samsung DLP TV that I specifically bought for the QAM tuner. I will get all sorts of great HD and digital channels some days and sometimes I get absolutely no signal strength as if Comcast has cut the faucet. I bought a signal booster that I'm running right now and I had a friend who does installations give me some shielded coax and neither seems to help.
The analog stations will work 100% of the time and very, very rarely will a digital / HD station hiccup due to poor signal when they're working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

It's possible you are picking up VOD stations being requested on your local node, they aren't always there, only when people are viewing them. It's also possible that the cable company is moving the channels around.
Have you tried a rescan when they disappear?
Many cable providers also decrypt channels temporarily when they are doing certain kinds of maintenance.

The channels seem to pop up back where they were. This is at least the third time this has happened... I think the last time was around this time of week, perhaps it is a maintenance thing (I'm in Detroit proper and Comcast here is pretty inept).
When working I do get to spy a couple VOD feeds when whomever in the neighborhood is watching, I also get the local HD channels (and ESPNHD). I also get random DTV channels not offered on the typical basic package here, G4 and Boomerang for example. They're all gone at the moment. If the local HD channels were on and I lost the VOD and DTV, I'd assume it was just a scrambling issue.
I did a rescan the first time this occurred and that that just left me with the analog channels and then I had to rescan when I saw the HD channels were back.

Just an FYI as of yesterday it's all working again. Bizarre. Any suggestions?

I'd say contact Comcast and ask them why they are dropping their unencrypted feeds but I don't know if you'd get an answer.

I seem to have the exact same issue here with the Plainville CT Comcast and a new Samsung DLP. One day the channels scan, the next they don't show up at all. I have a Comcast digital box on another tv on the same cable drop and the box always works. The QAM tuner in the Samsung is the only set affected by this.
Very perplexing and frustrating... I don;t want to get another box to make this work!
