I'm looking at buying a Polk PSW111 subwoofer which is 150 watts and is a compact 8" sub that fits my family room space very well. The reviews I've read have all been positive for this model.
My only concern is that the frequency range only goes down to 38Hz and other models go down as low as 25-30Hz.
Is this really a concern? The sub will me used mainly for home theater and ocassionally for music. I read that the human hear can only hear as low as 20Hz.
Thanks for any help!
Yeah, the sub is small. Is it a concern? Only if you expect to hear room shaking bass that guys here with larger SVS, Hsu, or JL Audio hear, cuz you won't get that. If those subs are V-8 Toyota Tundras, the Polk is like a Yaris.
But if it delivers bass that you care for at a price you're comfortable with, then it works.

Mr. Mojo, realize that many of us would not even consider something that goes down to 38hz to actually be a sub. If you are into movies, especially those in the action genre, consider a more substantial sub. There is a whole lot of content in movies between the 25 to 38hz range. For less than what that Polk will cost you, take a look at the X-sub at AV123.

By the way, are we related?:D
