Hi everyone. Eye of Judgment is coming out today (or perhaps tomorrow). Seems like in order for this game to have any staying power your going to have to be able to play a lot with friends at home or hook up with people online to play. I'm starting this thread so AVSers can hook up online to play.

My PSN is danyvatt

Picked up my copy today. I'll probably start playing online Friday night. I'm txfilmguy on PSN (I think, have to check).

Forgot about this thread. BUMP! Got the game last night. Liking it alot. Ordered 8 boosters and another pre-made so I could play with my two sons and take it online.

Well worth the 70 bones. If you're having trouble finding the game, check Best Buy. Rumor has it that gamestop is only going to sell online for right now.

I went to bestbuy last night and they didn't have ratchet or the eye. So sad.

Just got the game at Future Shop (Canada). Now looking for booster packs. My son and I should have fun playing.

Add me to your friends list to play. Seems that this could be fun.

I've played three games online so far (2wins, 1 loss). For those not aware, before going online, you have to go into deck builder and register your deck or decks. By default, the deck that comes with the game is called "STARTER". Select that deck and register online.

Now just start throwing cards on the mat and the eye will read them. if you have duplicates, both must be on the mat at the same time. Once your 30 cards are read, you're set.

When you start an online game using the registered deck, your first 5 cards (your inital draw) will be displayed. Unfortunately it only have the picture of the card so you have to scramble and find all 5 and decide to mulligan or not. All in under 60 seconds.

Once you've either mulligan'd or kept the original 5, hit start. When its your turn, the computer will tell you to draw. The first 5 will be displayed with the 6th (new card) to the far left. Get a good look at it because its only there for like 5 seconds. Find that card and start your turn.

Definitely an innovative way to prevent cheating. Can't wait to get some new cards.

The Best Buy in Dallas at LBJ and Midway is the only store in town where I could find it (Called all other Best Buys, Game Stop, Target, Walmart, etc.). They only had two copies and held one for me.

I played about 6 games last night with a friend... we both had a great time! I definitely feel that playing against another player in person is the best way to go. We couldn't find any booster packs or theme decks for sale anywhere so we split the beginner pack and 1 booster pack between us and played with a deck of 19 each, which isn't how it is supposed to work, but it was good enough to get an idea of the game play. Our games lasted from 15-30 minutes each. They got longer as we got better at figuring out strategies. As I stated before, I'll start playing online this Friday most likely.

Cards are copyable...

Despite supposedly being printed using special inks rendering photocopying impossible, reports are sprouting up around the interwebs of people successfully copying cards from Eye of Judgment on the PlayStation 3 and scanning them into the game with little or no problem. One of our readers sent pictures of a card he printed out from Penny Arcade, which despite some curling and color differences from the other cards seems to be scanning in just fine. I decided to try it out myself.

Question.. Is the code on each card unique to the card or just unique to that type of card?

for example do all biolith bomers have the same code?

It would be interesting if playing online is tracked by some sort of security measure where they knwo how many of a specific card have been printed and if somone registers a card that is alredy been registered it disallows that card altogeher from being used

Is that possible?

I'm thinking about getting this game for some face to face "judgement" with a friend, I'm not so interested in online (yet). ;)

I know it comes with a starter deck of 30 cards and a booster pack of 8 cards, that's good for me, but what about my friend?

We don't plan on buying the game twice. I know you can buy booster packs separate, but can you buy the starter pack separate as well?

I just want to be able to plug everything in and have enough cards for 2 people to start a match on day 1.

A better quote from the same article:

As a final note, don't do this. We sincerely do not recommend that anyone obtain cards this way. It makes you a dick.

I'm not too worried about it. Still a fun game.

Yes, you can buy pre-made decks for 14.99 each. They come in water, fire, wood, earth, and biolith (the one with the game) themes. Boosters are 3.99.

I bought 8 boosters and a premade. All randomly selected by ebgames. I wanted enough cards to make 3 decks (starter, pre-made, and one from the boosters).

Apparently, people are saying you can get them to register them in register mode, but when you try to use them in a game, it doesn't work. I can't know for sure though, since I wouldn't try to copy cards. I've played a few games so far online and it is a lot of fun.

I'm still going through the tutorial - it looks more complicated than I thought it would be (I have never played a CCG before) but I imagine it will make more sense once I start to play.

It seems way more complicated than it is. Some basic rules:

During your turn you do 3 main things:

1. Get 2 mana
2. Do any actions: To do these you place the "action" card over any card you want to attack etc.
3. Play a card, which will automatically attack.

Thats it.

two types of cards - spells and creature cards

1. Draw a card
2. get 2 mana
3. casting phase. this is when you cast spells
4. summon phase. If you have mana after a spell, you can summon a creature and it will attack whatever enemy its facing.

If you'd rather just summon, you can skip the casting phase. If you just want to pool mana, you can just end your turn by showing the "end of turn" action card.

Other notes:

To get a creature to attack again, you must spend mana to do so. Also, if you are not facing the enemy, it costs 1 mana to turn your creature during the casting phase.

You do more damage if you attack from behind or the side of the enemy too. Pretty simple concept yet pretty indepth gameplay.

Adding you tonight cysquatch. For everyone, I'll be playing tonight from 7 central to about 10 central. With the whole possibility of cheating, I think its important to get a good group together that can play semi-regularly. In fact, I would even be up for putting together a small tourney in a couple of weeks. Start off with 8 or 16 players, plan some matches, have a winner. Might be fun.

Well, the bottom line is that even if someone copies, the gameplay still is unaffected. In Guild Wars they now let people buy all the skills for PvP instead of forcing the old way of earning them. It actually makes PvP better because the game then is 100% about strategy and execution.

Not that I condone it for EoJ (in GW, the developer made it legal to get everything). However it should be reassuring to you guys that the gameplay is unaffected by the people who do copy.

agreed. If they keep the cards somewhat balanced, copying won't be an issue. Add that to the fact that usually powerful cards are restricted to a limited number in the deck (usually 1). What we don't want are ultra-rare, ultra powerful cards showing up copied in every deck.

If your friend gets 4 booster packs or a theme deck you both should be good to go. I would recommend getting the booster packs so the deck would be more balanced between elements.

I haven't been able to find any packs or decks and I've been splitting my deck of 38 (starter+booster that comes with it) between myself and a friend and that's been good enough to get started, but we'll both be collecting more cards as soon as they pop up here.

ebgames has boosters and pre-mades online. Gamestops locally should be getting their shipments today (in my area anyway).

Got the fire crusader pre-made today along with 8 boosters. Can't wait to make my first custom deck.

here's a question. What starter deck did you all get? Are they all the same or are they random as well? My starter came with a white cubik (gold card). Everyone get this as well? Also, I got lucky with the booster that came with the game (a biolith gold in it). Of all the 8 boosters I got today, not a single gold card. =(

I'm not sure if all the starters are exactly the same, but I think they all come with the same 2 gold cards.

Strangely enough, I'm beginning to believe EoJ may be the PS3's first breakout game.

The boy's friends have all been ooohing and ahhing over it. Have come over just to play EoJ and have bought their own decks(even though they don't have PS3s.

I'm not a CCG fan at all, however I really enjoy playing this game. Mainly, because the PS3 does all the "heavy calculating" and I can just have fun.

I know it's a niche market, but kids who were crapping on the PS3 are now talking about getting one for Christmas.

If Sony was smart, they would secure rights and announce new games along these lines before Christmas. They might be surprised by the interest it generates.

I picked this up from peer pressure, friend bought it and brought it over with his deck to play. the eye makes a great mic for other online games too, like Warhawk. My kids were having a blast making videos with the mirror filter too.

All I can say is I absolutely love this game. I thought it would be a cool gimic, but playing online is an absolute blast and the game has a lot of depth once you start to get into it. Now I just have to find some booster packs.

Yes, I've seen it at Gamestop

I happened to be out running errands and found one at the local mall :D

Question to those who have one: is there any way to manually switch the frame rate from 60hz to 120hz to see if there is any improvement? My picture is pretty grainy...which I'm assuming is from having low light in my room (and it being incandescent).

I just got Eye of Judgment - games are quite slow going but it's pretty fun so far. Only way to play these games is against other people though... Going to try to get the girlfriend to play - wish me luck!

Probably no luck in revisiting this thread but I just got this yesterday via the great amazon deal and having never played a card game before, its kicking my ass. My 7yo and I sat down last nite and started a game right away but were completley lost. I dont wanna go through the long booring numerous tutorials. Is there a down and dirty how to for this game to get us up to speed?

I played for about a month or two then lost interest. I know there are some very active communities (do a google search). It's one of those games that take alot of time if you plan to play online in tournaments and such.

The technology is awesome, which attracted me to the game. It is pretty cool how the software recognizes and interacts with the cards. I think the Eye has huge potential with the PS3 if this kind of technology advances.

I'll most likely try to sell mine on ebay or Amazon someday...

It's a good game and I would have continue to play it if the setup time was less than 5 minutes...
Now I have to get a table out, move the camera, find the cloth (I made a custom table but I still have to get that out too), get the lighting right, and then jump online and play.

It is a fun game, and you and your son can play it and enjoy it if you can reduce the setup time.

That's the hassle for me, I played for 6 months straight up to 2nd expansion. Which they made mistakes with that made the gameplay and strategy one dimensional.

Great game.
