I was so disappointed in the movie I don't even remember what it sounded like in theaters.

Well it's come to the point now that I am not watching movies to enjoy the movie anymore, but more critique my audio and video components. But I got it early and wanted to see if there was anything special in it bass wise.

Mee too! What a bust.

What made me even more disgusted was when Tobey and Kirsten did work to "promote" it and were so blatantly negative and bored with it. What a way to promote a movie.:confused::(

I was disappointed in the movie too. There was just way too much going on with all of the characters. I can't remember the movie theater experience very well either however I don't remember siting at the theater thinking "Wow this fantastic or I can't wait to hear this when it is released on DVD.

My local theater is good but it just doesn't have that audio wow factor. So it could actually be the movie wasn't all that good low bass wise or it just could have been the theater.

I am curious to see how it is "reviewed" here and what all of you guys think.

Regards,

RTROSE

I saw Spiderman 3 in a local IMAX theater, and the sound design was PHENOMENAL. It's demo material from start to finish, IMO, and I've had a long list of terrific movie experiences in my lifetime (the benefit of living in or near a big city my whole life). I'm doubtful that the BR disk will be anything less than a home run technically, since it has to be the counterpunch to Transformers being exclusive to HD-DVD.

Agreed. I also saw it in an IMAX theater and the scenes I remember the most thinking I can't wait to try them out at home are anything with Sandman in them, especially when he is first created and the final fight scene.

WOW

I find the sound throughout to be pretty decent, but not reference material. As far as the movie itself goes, let's just say that the franchise has just about run it's course.

watched at a bass-less AMC theater with horribly high mounted `surround' speakers.

Nowhere near as good as SM2 and they completely BOTCHED Venom!

Just about implies they should make another one.

I'm going with, has run its course. #2 was a great movie, then came #3 which was like 2 movies cut down and jammed together.

That and emo Peter made me cringe.

No, Chris. I'm not implying that. I think they need to give it a rest for a while.

Spidey#1- $403,706,375 gross
Spidey#2- $373,377,893 gross
Spidey#3- $336,530,303 gross

Yeah, looks like it has run it course, those numbers are falling off the table!! ;)

I guess I think if you have a triology that grosses over a BILLION dollars, you'd be pretty safe filming #4.

The bad part is that they botch almost all the comic book movies. Most the X-Men movies had terrible characters. Oh well............

Yes, if you are counting on them being true to the comic books, forget it. But, I knew nothing about X-men and had never touched a comic book and thought they were entertaining movies and would watch them again. But, Spiderman 3 just wasnt' that great of a movie, irrespective of it is link, or lack of to the comic book.

Spidey 3 made more money overall when including international gross than either Spidey 1 or 2...there is no doubt there will be another one at some point. :)

Maybe so, but I wouldn't get on Dunst or McGuire participating.

Well I am going to attemp to watch it friday night on the PS3 upconverted and see how it turns out. I remember going to the movies to see it but like most on her don't really recall all of it. Since I thing my sub has lost it's life I don't think it will hurt my movie experience too much.

disgree with ya there...botched would be Hulk, and based on the trailer, Iron man might follow suit.

Spider-Man 3 world wide gross from boxofficemojo.com

Worldwide: $890,983,299

plus factor in dvd and bluray sales, I think the franchise is doing fine.

I agree, I didn't see this at IMAX but I saw it at the new theater in town and the sound was amazing! There was a part, can't quite remember, but it was of Harry as GG2 and his board comes on screen and I remember the bass from that scene and was thinking "This will sound awesome at home!" Great sound design and I thought it was a pretty good movie!
