Hi everyone, I have a couple of quick questions about a projector install that I am trying to do and I appreciate any help you could give.

I have an Epson EMP-S1 projector that I am hooking up to a DirecTV HD box. Here are my questions:

1) The projector is HD compatible but the video connectors on the back are S-Video, RCA, and VGA computer. I assume that I should use the VGA connector and go from that to the component outputs on the DirecTV box, is that right? Where would I find a cable that would allow me to do this?

2) Unfortunately, due to the room layout, the projector will be on the opposite side from where the DirecTV box will be situated. There isn't any way around this for a variety of reasons. I'm looking at about 50-75ft of distance that a video cable would need to run from the DirecTV unit to the projector. Can I get away with this kind of length or will I need to buy an amplifier to boost the signal? If so, could you point me in the direction of some good units that are fairly priced?

Thanks again for any help.

Nick

Here you go for the VGA to component.

You can also do what I did and buy a VGA with male and female ends and an adapter that goes from male VGA to component.

50' will probably be your outside limit for any HD signal over component cables. An amplifier in the middle will probably work to get the signal through, but it's degrading the signal none the less as it's amplifiying the already noisy long run.

You would probably be better off with an extender like this (http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3960) one.

I thought that was more for HDMI? A good set of RG-6 component cables should be good for at least 100ft.
