I just checked and it says I have the latest with 1.93.

I hope it still let's me on Warhawk later. :|

I believe 1.94 is tied to the new Ratchet and Clank game. It corrects an install issue with the game. The update did not appear for me until I put the game disc in for the first time.

Actually the update has nothing to do with an install issue. Firmware,version 1.94 activates the rumble support for the game. The issue of starting the game could still arise and you will need to either add or remove 500MB from your hard drive to correct it.

I don't own a PS3 yet.. Could you elaborate on the "rumble support"... Do the current wireless 6-axis controllers even have the hardware to do that?

Nope, the SixAxis don't have support. But the new DualShock3 have the hardware and will be shipping soon in Japan and next year in the rest of the world.

To elaborate on what awx said, there are games coming out now (like R&C) that support rumble even though you can't buy the controller yet. You could import the controller from Japan when it releases there.

Or Sony could do a 180 and release it here early. Anything's possible with them.

Has anyone experienced any issues installing v1.94? - read a few forums that mentioned that.

Have you installed v1.94 successfully yet? - planning on picking up R&C today and I just wanted to know if this is something I should hod-off doing since it's primarily for DS3.

1.94 installs with no issues from the disc. And, I didn't have to add, or delete, anything from the HD to get the savefile to work. So far, no issues.

AFAIK, the update is only available at this time on the BD for Ratchet, so your PS3 won't mention it unless you put in the game disc. And, if you want to play the disc, you will have to do the update--there is no "waiting until I get a DualShock3." R&C simply won't work without the 1.94 firmware.

I didnt have any issues with installing 1.94. But I did get the error when trying to install R&C to the Hard drive. It told me I needed 419MB free to install, and to delete stuff to free up space. I have 40 gig free on my HD. I exited out and deleted the video of Turok, i had DL'ed went back to R&C and it installed just fine. There was a thread around here about this issue though.
