Hello there! I currently own a 34" Sony XBR960 CRT and I love it. However, we are moving into a new home next month and our TV room is larger. I'm contemplating getting a larger TV so it will still be good-sized from a farther distance away.

The issue is that I have two 2-year olds and I worry about the screen getting damaged on a rear projection unit. They are pretty good about not being rough with the screen on our 34" HDTV, but they do like to touch the pictures sometimes. The screen is glass, of course, so it doesn't really matter right now.

I've had my eye on the 3000 series Sony, but don't know how well the screen would hold up.

Any suggestions? Also, do you think I'll be disappointed with picture quality going from the XBR CRT (one of the best pictures I've ever seen) to the 3000 series unit?

Thanks for your help!

Jeremy

I can't comment on your tv choice as that is personal to your eyes and what you like. But the only way to protect a new tv from young children is to put it into a large enclosure/cabinet with doors on the front, so when no adult is present, it is not reachable by the kids. Just be sure to allow enuf ventilation for the tv.

Tell them not to touch the screen and MEAN IT! Kids are really pretty trainable, but you've gotten off on the wrong foot by letting them touch your CRT screen.

LoL, is it sad I was thinking kind of the same thing but more of a nice "necklace" and an invisible dog fence.

OP,
I doubt you'll be dissapointed in the set quality. Its a very nice set.
