I'm looking at putting a 10" sub in a cabinet with only about 3/4 inch clearance on each side. It's a front facing sub and the cabinet will have a fabric cover so the sound can escape easily. My other choice is to put a smaller 8" sub with about 2 inches of clearance on each side.
Does anyone see a problem with putting in the 10" with little clearance on the sides?
Thanks.

It's generally not a good idea to put a sub inside a cabinet. Is there no other choice for placement?

Are you saying this because of heat or because of vibration? What if it is a sealed sub and the amp is separate?

Note that the rear of the cabinet is open for ventilation, so heat shouldn't be a problem.
My real concern is inferior or odd sound.
