I just installed my antenna and I am not receiving any channels. The only channel I am receiving is channel 10 which is VHF(Analog) and shouldn't really be picked up with this antenna any way. I have unplugged the pre-amp and the signal gets really bad so I know that is setup properly. I have listed my equipment below. I am wondering if it could be the tuner in my TV. When I scan in digital it doesn't pick up any channels. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

TV - Walmart Brand "Initial" 32" LCD with analog/digital tuner
Antenna - 91XG
Pre-Amp - CM 7777

My Zip code is 47431 if that helps.

Hi,
I am new to HD OTA too. I think your TV has a ATSC digital tuner, so there may be two cable connectors in the back of the TV, one is for regular cable (analog) and the other is digital. Make sure your sure your antenna is connected to the digital connector, then go into the settings on the TV and rescan for digital channels.

Are you sure that when you scan in digital that you have an antenna connected to the ATSC digital antenna connection on your TV?

Antennaweb.org lists the following digital stations for your ZIP code:

* yellow - uhf WFXW-DT 39.1 FOX TERRE HAUTE IN 276° 29.2 39
* yellow - uhf WTIU-DT 30.1 PBS BLOOMINGTON IN 106° 19.5 14
* red - uhf WTWO-DT 36.1 NBC TERRE HAUTE IN 278° 29.1 36
* red - uhf WIPX-DT 63.1 ION BLOOMINGTON IN 73° 40.1 27
* violet - uhf WTHI-DT 10.1 CBS TERRE HAUTE IN 304° 34.5 24
* violet - uhf WTTV-DT 29.1 CW BLOOMINGTON IN 72° 40.0 48
* violet - uhf WCLJ-DT 56.1 TBN BLOOMINGTON IN 73° 39.9 56

They are in three or four different directions. The 91XG is highly directional. Are you sure you have it aimed in an appropriate direction? You probably need to rotate the antenna in order to get all the stations. You should be able to get at least the first four stations. The "violet" stations may be low power or have significant terrain blockage issues.

Is your area hilly? Are you down in a valley?

Most UHF yagi antennas have decent gain for channels 7-11 with the 91XG being no exception. As mentioned previously check the inputs on your TV as well as the setup menu to select from cable or off-air channels. Also which input on your CM 7777 did you use? and make sure the internal switch is set properly.

The only port on the TV that I am unfamilar with is RS232. Am I supposed to get an adapter from the coaxil to the RS232 for Digital? Other than that I have checked the CM7777 and I hooked it up for the UHF gain and I did not mess with the inside of it.

Also, make sure you are tuning to the correct UHF channel, as indicated on the far right in the table above. Your analog channel 2 (WTWO) is actually channel 36 in its digital format.

You may have to set the TV to receive UHF signals through the TV set-up menu.

"Am I supposed to get an adapter from the coaxil to the RS232 for Digital?"

No, the RS-232 would be to update firmware and or for service issues. For cable or OTA channels you will use a 75 ohm male RF connector on the back of your set. Some TV's have 2 , 1 for cable and 1 for OTA. Make sure you are using the one for OTA. If both are shared by one input, then you will have to set it in the setup menu of your TV. Relative to your preamp, if you bought it new and are using the UHF/combined input then you should be ok.

I found my coaxil was unplugged in another part of the house. So now I am receiving a decent amount of Digital Signals. Just one other question. Is there an optimum angle to point the antenna? Meaning up and down. Or is this just something I need to experiment with? Thanks

Experiment with it, it might help.
