I saw a TV spot for Disney's "Meet the Robinson's." Not a movie I planned to buy, but it was good to see Disney finally putting their animated stuff out. I found it interesting the end of the ad had the announcer saying, "...on Disney DVD and in HD only on Blu Ray." Apprarently, Disney is making a big deal out of making sure people know the only way to get this movie in HD is on Blu Ray. I wonder if HD DVD will start something similar. When I saw the recent spot for Transformers, it simply stated "DVD and HD DVD," but made no mention of the words "only on HD DVD." Thoughts?

It was a simple change to the end that I thought made a better statement about their support of Blu Ray only for HD.

Did you mean to put this in the BD Software forum? Not sure what this has to do with HD DVD.

I think the point is how blatantly Disney wants Blu-Ray to win over HD DVD! That's probably because of Blu-Ray's BD+ DRM.

I've see 2 different Spiderman 3 ads so far.

One on Fox that states "Available on DVD and Hi Definition Blu-ray discs."
One on a couple HD channels that state "Available only on Hi Definition Blu-ray discs."

It seems they don't even want to use the acronym "HD" in the advertisement since it may be confused with HD DVD or even the upconvert players that do "Full 1080p HD" conversions.

Fox wants BD+, Disney wants region coding AFAIK

You obviously didn't read the whole post. My question was HD DVD related more anything. Will HD DVD studios (or should they) follow by making it more explicit that a certain movie is only available in hi def on HD DVD like Disney has done with Blu Ray?

They absolutely should. I think they missed the boat on promoting TF no matter how many records they broke. Some kind of TF bundle, some HD-heavy commercials, print ads in game mags and HT mags, etc.

For Transformers, there were 2 commericals.
One that stated "Available on DVD."
One that stated "Available on DVD and HD DVD."

But neither where exclusive to HD DVD like what Sony/Disney has been doing on their last releases.
