View Full Version : ABC College Football Coverage Map, Oct. 27
Two coverage maps for ABC this weekend. Two of the regional games will be in HD with the national prime time game (Ohio State at Penn State) also being in HD. There will be one HD game in each of the three time slots.
Noon eastern Map:

-West Virginia at Rutgers (HD)
-Colorado at Texas Tech
3:30 eastern Map:
http://assets.espn.go.com/espntv/topics/coveragemaps/102707ABCCFB330pm.jpg
-Nebraska at Texas
-Clemson at Maryland
-South Florida at Connecticut (HD)
-Minnesota at Michigan (WXYZ-Detroit only, ESPN Classic feed)
The Minnesota at Michigan game will be seen on WXYZ in Detroit as well as ESPN Classic. ESPN Classic earlier this year was moved from analog to digital cable on Comcast in the Detroit area, I am sure this had something to do with ESPN agreeing to WXYZ to show that game, as Comcast is the major cable operator in the Detroit area.
By the way, as no Big Ten team is involved in any of the regional afternoon games on ABC (minus the special Detroit situation) there is no reverse mirror this week.
mx6bfast 10-24-07, 11:01 PM Nebraska at Texas will be seen by a huge chunk of the US, why is that game not in HD?
jefbal99 10-25-07, 08:26 AM How did a big ten game get stuck on ESPN classic?
How did a big ten game get stuck on ESPN classic?
Horse Racing on ESPN this weekend means that ESPN Classic has to be used for overflow, ABC also has a rare noon game this week. It is a rare CFB Saturday with ESPN only having 1 game.
mtiffee 10-25-07, 10:30 AM How did a big ten game get stuck on ESPN classic?
Stuck? Upgraded? I bet more people get ESPN Classic than get the Big Ten Network. :D
Why the hell is ABC not showing the Clemson v Maryland game in the ACC territories of FL, i.e. the rest of the state excluding Tampa Bay?

I was referring to being on the just about the bottom of the ESPN channels
ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNClassic/ESPNU
Atleast on the BTN, it would be HD ;)

The same reason it's not being shown in Boston - because the ACC is no draw in either.
USF is a sexy pick right now - can't blame them...
Way to go WXYZ! I wish other markets that had games sent to ESPNU did the same thing.
steverobertson 10-25-07, 02:57 PM None of those games are very appealing at 3:30 I guess it will be FL vs GA for me on CBS.
Why the hell is ABC not showing the Clemson v Maryland game in the ACC territories of FL, i.e. the rest of the state excluding Tampa Bay?Easy decision: USF is the more local team. Same thing happens in Cedar Rapids-Iowa City, Iowa -- even though it's often considered Big Ten country thanks to the University of Iowa, if it's a choice between a Big Ten game and a game involving Iowa State, the Iowa State game usually gets the nod. Likewise, the Des Moines-Ames station will usually want to go with a game involving Iowa if it's available, rather than a game between two out-of-state Big XII schools.

For sure. No map needed either. Gotta love CBS.
Go DAWGS.....
Maybe we can pull it off, somehow. :)
richardmayo 10-25-07, 07:15 PM The PAC 10 must have the worst TV contract of any of the bigger conferences.
Oregon vs. USC is on Fox Sports NW. Crummy PQ, and unavailable for a big chunk of the country. Way to promote a match up of two top 10 teams.

FSN usually does PAC 10 games in HD at night. Is this game your talking about not in HD?

Oregon vs. USC is the FSN national game, it will air across almost all of the country in HD. It will be on FSNs, CSNs, or MSG depending in where you receive. The only areas that won't see the game is where the local station has a conflict with a local pro team or another college game airing locally.
GeorgeLV 10-25-07, 08:08 PM Stuck? Upgraded? I bet more people get ESPN Classic than get the Big Ten Network. :D
I bet more people bet Big Ten Network in HD than ESPN Classic. :/

No. That would be the Mountain West Conference. If the Pac 10 ever decides to expand you can bet UNLV has them waiting on speed-dial.

For a mid-major conference the MWC has one of the best TV setups. For a BCS conference the PAC-10 has one of the worst TV contracts as far as national exposure.

E-A-G-L-E-S 10-25-07, 09:10 PM Me too. The offerings for the east are horrible for the 3/3:30 slot.
Some good ball this weekend, looking forward to it.
Ron_Mexico81 10-25-07, 10:01 PM Does anyone know the ESPN 2 game at 4pm and ESPN game at 4:45pm Saturday??? All I get is Teams to be announced. I'm in Los Angeles.
Thanks!
mikemikeb 10-25-07, 10:03 PM How did Texas/Nebraska end up on so many stations? Is there really all that much fan base across all those states to put it on vs. an HD game of more important significance?
(Same thing with Colorado @ Texas Tech vs. WV @ Rutgers)

The WV-Rutgers game is a good game. Rutgers just beat South Florida who was #2 and WV might be undefeated if not for injury. Not saying there isn't a better game on as I didn't look at complete listings, but.
TravelFan1 10-26-07, 09:03 AM 82% of the country will watch my Scarlet Knights? Boy, times have changed.....
Anyway, great NJ sports weekend:
Breeders' Cup World Championships at Oceanport
W Va at Ru in Piscataway
NE Revs at NY Red Bulls in the Meadowlands
and, last, but not at all least, the first Devils home game at the Rock in Newark!
heisman 10-26-07, 10:49 AM How did Texas/Nebraska end up on so many stations?
Probably because people love a good execution (Callahan)!
I'll be watching Oregon/SC in HD.

E-A-G-L-E-S 10-26-07, 01:18 PM Sorry, just a bad attempt at humor.
Tim in Hollywood 10-27-07, 01:35 PM Anyone have a solid answer to mx6bfast's earlier question???
"Nebraska at Texas will be seen by a huge chunk of the US, why is that game not in HD?"
Seems strange that, while being broadcast over such a large portion of the country, it is still going to be in LOW definition.
E-A-G-L-E-S 10-27-07, 04:14 PM Good question, but suprised to hear it from a guy in southern california.
There are two games on that are MUCH better in their time slot, but not sure how that would make the texas game SD.....
