i've searched and found contradictory information. samsung claims the hln507w is hdcp compliant. some sites claim it is not. the sapphire x1600 pro hdmi, is supposedly hdcp compliant. when the combo didn't work in my htpc, it didn't matter because anydvd hd alleviated the grief. but now with the updates to powerdvd ultra (which still does not play bd+ titles) requiring that anydvd be turned off, i've returned to that nagging question: why does the cyberlink advisor tell me that my display chain is not hdcp compliant? why should i require anydvd hd?

does anyone have a combination of hln507w and sapphire x1600 pro hdmi card working with blu-ray--without anydvd hd? if i can guarentee that the video card is the problem (doubtful) then i'd be willing to buy another card (geforce 8400gs, suggestions).

thanks. greg

I have the HLN-617W. Samsung claims it is HDCP compliant. Cyberlink Advisor says it is not. I have tried four different HDCP-compliant graphics adaptors featuring AMD 2400HD PRO and nvidia 8500GT chips. I have verified (per Cyberlink feedback) that the cable is DVI-D rather than DVI-I. But in all cases, the Cyberlink Advisor says the setup is not HDCP compliant, and therefore, I cannot watch any new releases. AnyDVD-HD was a solution for prior releases, but not anymore. This is maddening. I am looking for a solution.

I use the HLN617 with the Sony PS3 which requires HDCP compliance without any problems. Also the Comcast box I have requires HDCP compliance and it also works with the HLN617.

i finally got a response from cyberlink: download the latest patch and make sure that my cable is dvi-d (which it is). i installed the patch last night, but now need to rent a BD title to check it out.

i appreciate the responses. i am also awaiting responses from tech support at samsung and sapphire to verify hdcp compliance with the hardware.

eventually i'll update my website with my htpc/hdcp experiences.

thanks again.

Worse comes to worse you could always install AnyDVD HD edition which will clear up those pesky HDCP issues right up.

PS you may want to also ask this question in HTPC section (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=26) if you have not already.
