I helped my new boss put in a new Surround sound unit last night and have ran into a snag:o The remote he has from where he last lived is a RT2 and no one is a dealer around use:( can this be user programed or is this a dealer only type thing?? Can it be shipped to some one and programed or does it need to be on site? Thanks for any help;)

If its an RTI T2, which is the original RTI remote, then yes, it is user programmable. The software for it is available at REmote Central. There is a proprietary cable that is required to connect it to your PC, if he doesn't have that, then he might be SOL.
If it is a T2+ or another of the newer remotes with a USB port, then no, that software is not available except to dealers.

can anyone tell me who would be a dealer for these? I'd like to see if I could send it to them to program the new pieces into it

Call RTI or put your location down.

That is an old remote. I have like 3 that I have gotten from customers when they upgraded. The software is available and the cable is not that hard to get.

POST THE LOCATION! There are RTI dealers everywhere.

Sorry, haven't fooled with this in a day or so , Located in East Tennessee near Knoxville and it is the 2+ so looks like a dealer type ?
