Okay, im considering replacing my 8720 with a 9000. Not sure if i can with its lens shift though.
Im planning on hanging it upside down from the ceiling. The top of the screen is about 10 cm (3.5 inches?!) below the lens. Will this work?
Noone here with any experience to share?

No. The vertical shift on the BenQ (and Sharp) DLP projs. is from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen. On Optoma and InFocus DLP projs. there is a fixed vertical shift of 36% of the screen height, far more than your 10 cm.
SIM2 DLP projs. have a variable vert. shift of + and - 6% which may suit your purposes. Marantz DLP projs. have variable vert. shift above the top and below the bottom of the screen, and would definitely work. Vidikron, Runco and Planar DLP projs. also have variable vert. shift, but are typically sold at B&M dealers at full retail.
If you go to an LCD or LCOS proj. they have considerably more flexibility in mounting than DLP projs. Any 1080p LCD or LCOS proj. would work in your setup.
Okay, thanks alot for the reply. You saved me about 3K and alot of ********. Im sticking with DLP though. My 8720 has enuff shift to make it work, i guess ill wait and hope the w20000 does to.
