It seems that all the LCoS projectors have cute alternate names: Pearl, Black Pearl, BlackWing, etc. But, I don't know of a single LCD or DLP proj. with an alternate name.

I think it's only fair that LCD and DLP projs. should have nicknames, too, and I think it's incumbent on AVS members to come up with those names. One big plus to them is that they are utterly confusing to those not in the know.

Since I just got one, I'll make the first suggestion. I think that henceforth we should refer to the Marantz VP-15S1 as Fred.

I suggest my HT380 be called Ron Jeremy ,and my HT5000 be called John Holmes. :D:D

as for cute...my vote would be for Salma, or you could just fall back and call it Bessy.

I have the infamous Optoma H79. A well know bulb hog. As in 500 hrs not the originally advertised 3000.

anyway some possible names.

- Wonder500
-CDR (Chinese death ray)
-The depreciator
- Glass Furnace
-Silicon Fart Art

How about these:

My Optoma 7100 should be called "sparky", thanks to all of the bulb misfires.

The Panasonic AE900 could be "clicky" due to the loud iris.

The black pearl could be called "TrygWoody" because it gives Tryg, well...

The Optoma H79 would be "Bulbeater"

The RS-2 would be called "Blacky".

The early Pana AE1000's could have been called "Haze-L" because of the poor implementation of the smooth screen.

And the Optoma HD-81 would be, of course, "Rainbow Bright"!

Actually, the RS2 should be called "darkly" - the translation of the RS2 cine4home preview has a section that says:
"simply darker than darkly".

More seriously I would like the Sharp XV-Z20000 to be call the ¨Black Stealth¨
