Was thinking about a Sony HD model, but having too carry around an annoying Docking Station just too transfer files is too much of an annoyance with my current SR200.

Any other models that offer jitter free, 1080i(orP) video, and make it just as easy too edit as SD? Also, must be hard disk based..

The camera would also be used mostly indoors with good lighting, and occasionally outdoors. I'd be using it too expand my un-official radio event tapings, hoping the HD camera would convince the guys too help make it official one day :). They already love the SD stuff..

Thanks :)..

hard disk camcorders that record in HD are pretty much all AVCHD now, which is definitely not as easy to edit as SD (limited selection of video editors, has powerful computer requirements,...)
i don't believe that the the Sony SR-series (hard disk) camcorders need a docking station.
my Canon HG10 should be arriving today (i hope), which I chose after researching currently available hard drive-based HD camcorders. after playing with it for a bit, i'll try to post some thoughts up here.

Please do. I take it that Adobe Premier Pro 3.0 or 4.0 will probably not be able too edit the HD video? Would Jet Audio be able too play it, or will I be using Power DVD Ultra as my primary player?

Also, if the above will not be able too edit, what program would? I love the ease of use that Pro 3.0 provides....

this is the one I was thinking of getting. Won't be using the viewport, but the LCD screen instead too view what I'm filming. I love the SR200's touch screen, so that isn't a problem. The only thing I don't like is it may use a docking station, but if anyone can confirm or deny that, most appreciated...

Later,
Neil

The HG10 comes with some programs to play and edit AVCHD files but they are pretty basic programs. Other more full featured programs that can currently edit AVCHD are Pinnacle Studio, Ulead VideoStudio, Sony Vegas, and the video editor that comes on Macs (iMovie?). Adobe hasn't introduced AVCHD support into any Premiere products yet, even though Elements 4.0 was just released. They say they are working on it.
Good luck with your decision. My final two choices were the HG10 and the Sony SR7. I was already leaning toward the HG10 when I saw it on sale for $849 last weekend and scooped one up. By Monday the price went back up to $1099. I got pretty lucky. :D

Just checked out the cannon model on new egg. Highly tempting, and seems too shoot at least 1080i. I'd be very interested in seeing some nature shot video if you can upload full 1080i video to an ftp or something.

Even a minute is down loadable since I have fios and a 1080/p monitor too view it on :).
Now I'll have too do some research into the editing programs. Are any of them similair too Premier Pro? I'm also thinking of getting After Effects, but not if it can't handle HD.

Of the video I've seen from various HDD high def camcorders, the Panasonic models with 3CCD still look the best.
