Will Binegar 10-26-07, 09:55 AM Hey Murray! It sounds like you may be among the first to get an IN82 into your home. Can you share your impressions thus far? Tolstoi 10-26-07, 11:10 AM InFocus projectors have the habit of being set at their default settings when calibrated! So true! I went from an IN76 to a Benq W9000. Calibrating the IN76 was no real fun. Too easy. The W9000 with is screwed color decoder is a lot more work  Figgie 10-26-07, 12:39 PM As was stated default setting from IN82 are spot on for the most part :) Might want to tinker a bit with the iris. I run mine at 56. :) krasmuzik 10-26-07, 02:50 PM The basic adjustments are there for your source being a variance from reference. Nobody else has the same sources you do - go learn how to use a test pattern calibration DVD - even the freebie THX ones. Aside from the need to do that - press factory reset if you think your calibration is screwy. The advanced adjustments that are available are for those with reference calibration gear to account for lamp/screen variances If you try to adjust these by eye you will muck it up worse than the good job the factory did with lab grade gear. If you use someone elses settings whose lamp or screen is pushed opposite yours - you will make yours worse not better. RobZ 10-26-07, 03:27 PM Calibrating the IN76 was no real fun. Too easy. : You should get an RS1. You'll have fun and keep occupied for a very long time.:D Tolstoi 10-26-07, 03:36 PM You should get an RS1. You'll have fun and keep occupied for a very long time.:D I have a RS1 at the office. Not so much fun due to the limited adjustment. krasmuzik 10-26-07, 03:37 PM RS1+Radiance should satisfy the urge though.... Tolstoi 10-26-07, 03:47 PM RS1+Radiance should satisfy the urge though.... I am using the RS1 with Anthem D2 with good results. Not as dead on as the IN76 and hopefully the IN82. I started calibrating the Benq W9000 but apparently the 709 color decoder is wrong. If it is the case it will not be fixable. RobZ 10-26-07, 04:06 PM RS1+Radiance Now that I'm on the prowl for a new projector, I've been staying away from the RS1/Radiance thread. Things are confusing and tempting enough already. (sorry to sidetrack your thread.) http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/7979/hijackmw6.gif mkerdman 10-27-07, 08:56 PM Hey Murray! It sounds like you may be among the first to get an IN82 into your home. Can you share your impressions thus far? Too early to tell really. Upconversion of 1080i to 1080p silky smooth to the point of being subtle. Bright, but not nearly "plasma-like" even with Hi-Lamp and Brilliant Color ON. "Out-of-the-box" pleasing to the eye. No defects whatsoever to report, except, it does not syn to a PC I have that is passing through a Key Digital transcoder to Component Video (I have an 8X3 component video switcher that's why) that works with a plasma and a Panasonic LCD projector. Powerstrip fun to get 60Htz to 59.XXHtz? By the way, does anyone have a price/performance recommendation for a 65 foot HDMI v1.3a compatible cable? cavu 10-28-07, 01:17 AM does anyone have a price/performance recommendation for a 65 foot HDMI v1.3a compatible cable?I would recommend Monoprice but see that the longest they currently list is 20ft HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified Cable (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10240&cs_id=1024006&p_id=3664&seq=1&format=2) for $34. Give them a call and ask about 65ft. |
