View Full Version : The Nightmare Before Christmas 3D-HD?
The highlight in the weekend was Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. It debuted on just 546 screens with Disney’s Digital 3-D. The reissue took in more than $5 million for a whopping $9,122 per location! Clearly 3-D is a draw. With those kinds of numbers you can look for more 3-D to come.
Deos anyone know if this will be released in 3D-HD? Looks like 3D is getting momentum...

It allready has, it was shown last year at digital theaters and they are showing it again this year in digital theaters.
I went and saw the 3D version last year when it first debuted. Very cool. Much better than the old style with the two color glasses. The opening scene they added in where the pumpkin head comes all the way out and laughs right in your face is pretty awesome.

Palladin 10-26-07, 02:22 PM IIRC, it's the same system that Dizzy used for "Meet the Robinson's", which may very well be the same technology that JVC claims to have developed for their
display units.

the 2000 version of the DTS DVD is going for big bucks on ebay (especially this time of year)

Actually, when 3D first debuted in the 1950's it used polarized glasses pretty much like the ones used for the digital 3D today. The quality was superb for the most part ; the trick for theaters was in synching up two separate reels of film to create the images for each eye. The red-blue 3D was a cheapo and simplified way of creating 3D for comic books and single film showings that came later on when the craze died down .

The red and blue trick was also done for TV 3-D since they couldn't do the two-film trick on TV like they could in the theaters.

Disney routinely puts its animated movies "back in the vault" for years at a time, so that they can re-release them for limited periods with big promotional campaigns. It's their business strategy, and it must work for them or they wouldn't keep doing it.
vertigo235 10-28-07, 12:07 PM The new movies use a circular polarizer instead of a linear one. This is better because it's not sensitive to head tilt at all.
Just FYI.
If this is anything like the glasses requiring headache inducing Superman 3D I saw in theatres, please count me out.
