Can the i1Display LT's cable be extended via a standard USB cable with no performance impact? I see that x-rite offers a USB cable supposedly and wonder if using this over a standard USB cable makes a difference.

Like most USB based meters the D2/Lt uses more current than say just a flash drive. So if your cable is to long the D2 could just hang or error when trying to use it. If you need a very long cable more than 10 feet then I would put a powered USB hub in the middle just to make sure. FWIW, Derek and I had talked about this quite a while ago (on the "other forum:D) in relation to my S2, so I bought some cable and a hub. I know this thread isn't about an S2 but if they work on the same premise of a USB port then you might be OK. I'm running 30 feet extra, in addition to the 8-10' of my device cable and have zero problems with signal AND I'm not using the powered USB hub and never have. I sent it back. YMMV. All I know is if we have a customer that is having problems with a meter hanging it is usually a long cable or a non-powered USB hub. |
