Where are these found?????
My local Circuit City and Best Buy have 55" or 60"
But they are tucked away.

I am really interested in the 50"

Why have these not made it out to stores yet?

I have a Circuit City credit i want to use on one, but you can't even get this set online!
Is it a limited release? are they brand new? whats going on with these?

I was wondering what the difference was between these sets 60a3000 and 60a2020. I know the 3000 is newer. It also says the 3000 has the bravia engine and the 2020 has the grand wega engine, which is better?

From what I've read, BRAVIA has replaced any WEGA wording. But it's basically the same lineup of technology.

The difference between the A2020 and the A3000 model's is that the A3000 sets employ Sony's version of a new 120hz motion enhancement technology being used by Sony, Samsung, JVC, and Sharp HDTV's (so far) to try and solve some of the motion-related issues with HD signals. It's a very interesting new trend in the industry that generally works great with sports broadcasts and does allow clearer and smoother images with 24 frame-per-second material (movies), but it does take some getting used to with movies. It has the affect of making films look as if they are live television broadcasts rather than movies, which resembles what my eyes perceive as a 1/2 step increase in forward motion, almost as if the film was in slight fast forward mode.

Other than that, the A3000 also is the first SXRD set to accept 1080p signals via VGA input, which I know many aren't even using anymore in favor of HDMI and DVI, but for those "surviving" original non-HDMI Xbox 360 owners out there this is excellent news finally allowing 1080p game and HD-DVD signals to be displayed through the VGA cable (the A3000 also accepts 1080p through Component, but this could eventually be affected by HDCP copy protection on the HD-DVD's if the film studios so desire to employ it, whereas VGA signals are not affected!).

Also for some very strange reason Sony has just dropped the price of these sets ANOTHER $500 in the past 2 weeks, making for example the KDS-60A3000 60" model (the one I want) retail for $2,199, down from $2,699, which was also marked down from its initial MSRP, which was $3,399! Either production costs are coming down dramatically, Sony is getting EXTREMELY competitive in their pricing, or they've lost their minds! Any way you slice it the consumer wins!

P.S. Lovealego, as to why these set are trickling into stores slower than molasses in January, it could be that they are trying to liquidate stock of A2020 models before displaying this years models. A brand new Best Buy opened up right around the corner from my house (BAD NEWS!) and they only have the A3000 SXRD's in stock, lending credence to my previous assumption.

Also to answer the question of whether or not Sony will release another 70 inch SXRD, yes but it has been delayed as far as I know until early next year. They do use a brighter lamp and are just sexy as hell (check out this link (http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/sony-tvs-ahoy%21/sonys-new-70-sxrd-rear-projection-its-thin-its-floaty-its-smooth-266672.php) to see what I mean). Imagine hanging a REAR PROJECTION HDTV on your wall! Trippy!!

Isn't the 70-inch over 200 pounds (see SonyStyle for the dimensions)? What type of wall do you have?

I'm hoping for a KDS-70a3000. 60 is too small for me (sit 12' away), and I'm not going to drop $5k+ on a TV, which means the new slim 70 is out.

GOt mine 60 A3000 last night from CC brought in 3 [rices from the net and asked the manager if he would price match, we took the average of all 3 and i got it for 1808.000. I was happy i May have gotten more off but the last time i priced match in cc a few weeks ago he went to 1850 for it dropped almost another 50.00 with no problem at all .

While Best Buy doesn't have the 50" on display they do carry it in their warehouses. I went to my local best buy and told them I wanted the 50" and was able to pick it up from their warehouse around the corner the next day.

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to give a heads-up that with due diligence these can still be found. I got a new-in-box KDS-60A3000 delivered by Best Buy yesterday, 8/17/08!

If you want one, don't give up! Keep looking!
