Okay, got the HD-A35 + Integra DTC-9.8 hooked up with Monoprice HDMI 1.3 cables.

So far I have observed the following glitches using bitstream output of DD+/TrueHD/DTS-HD to the DTC-9.8

The Frighteners - DD+ soundtrack - Preamp fails to lock on signal, static
Top Gun - TrueHD soundtrack - no sound

Any other glitches people have found?

Also I noticed with The Matrix that there is no PIP sound when IME is being used which is what I expected, but joerod mentioned that when IME was being used the player would drop back to DD - this didn't happen here.

the same thing happened to me during top gun but it did click in but it took about a minute, btw it sounds amazing. I have the a-35 and onkyo 805 receiver.

Onkyo 885 pre-amp(same as 9.8) and A35, there are some bugs for sure from the A35

Top Gun takes forever for the pre-amp to lock on to the TrueHD signal as do some other various TrueHD tracks

if you are viewing another source(HDMI input on 885) and pop in a movie in the A35 when you flip over to view it you get no bitstream audio capability, you must leave the 885 on the HD-DVD input, stop the disc and restart it to get bitstream output, this is obviously a handshake or EDID issue

the reason I say this is due to the A35 is that the Samsung 1400 I have is 100% perfect in this regard with the pre-amp, quick and perfect locks with TrueHD etc., if you load a disc while not viewing the unit you still get bitstream when you flip over to it

Anyone get a similar problem with frighteners?

Looks like the A35 is not quite outputting the bitstream to spec.

Data point: watched Top Gun in TrueHD last night with none of the problems mentioned in this thread. Receiver is Denon 3808.

I think this is similar to the problem I am seeing with Frighteners HD DVD - handshake or something goes bad and as a result all I hear is white noise.
