I am having the urge for a "theater room" and the only available room in my home is our office/computer room and it is small, 10x10. Depending on throw distance and some of the calculators that i have been using it looks like a high 60" is the largest i could do. I have a 42 plasma with inwall speakers in my living room and it looks great and sounds great. I guess that there is always that itch to have a projector. Maybe it will have to wait till I have a bigger room just wanted to get some opinions
Thanks!
A projector should be fine with a smaller (sub 100" screen). You should look for a projector with a short throw, as quiet as you can find, and doesn't throw out too much heat (small space). If going 720P, I believe the Marantz VP4001 has a short throw. Look at the Panasonic AX200u as well. For 1080P, the Sony Pearl is extememely quiet, runs cool, and has a pretty flexible throw. I'm sure others have some thoughts on other great projectors. Keep in mind that a 1080P (or the Panasonic AX200u smooth screen) will allow you to have a larger screen considering you sit so close (pixel visibility).

which has a similar throw. So a 10ft throw shouldn't be a problem at all

Can you really hear directional centre back surround on Episode 2 Attack of the Clones when Anakin uses the lightsaber on the Tusken raiders

I can see the centre back going right over my head rather than being behind!
What you could do as an experiment is place the two loudspeakers and attach them in the same way as the video projector aiming downwards really easy to do. Or a attach them to the ceiling aiming downwards and place the sidewall ones a bit lower for that room, it’s the wrong size and the sidewall ones need to be lower about 5 feet or just over a little bit, what are they 7 feet up!
Thou its best with them placed behind, just move the seating a few feet forwards and then place the sidewall surrounds at the same height as the centre back ones, you’ll know the difference, a little additional EQ to lower the mid and high range so you get a nice mid bass feel with Episode 1 when the Jedi’s duel with the sith.
