I have an older commercial Panny plasma with only 1 component video input. I have a dvd player connected to this. My Zenith HD STB is connected to the display using the 15 pin PC connection.
If I replace the STB with a new Directv HD, it does not have this connection available. So, I guess I can buy a component switch to use the same input on the plasma for both the DVD & STB. Any suggestions ? I would only need a 2 to 1 switch.
Is there any way I can convert the component out of a new STB to the PC input of the plasma so I can continue to use that connection ?

I too have an older Panny plasma. I purchased a DVI board for it. You can check them out at Visual Apex.

I also assume your new DirecTV HD Receiver will also have Component outputs just like on your Zenither STB so you should just be able to just swap out the boxes and re-use the same cable you're already using. Does your Zenith have Component outputs? And does the new DirecTV HD Receiver also have Component outputs? If this is not the case, we need more details on how all your components are connected and exactly which outputs are on the back of the Zenith STB as well as the DirecTV HD Receiver.
Is this the type of cable you're using on your Zenith STB?

Randy,
My Zenith (HD-SAT520) has a 15 pin PC output and is connected to the plasma via this connection. That output is not available on newer STBs, but the cable you've shown looks like just what I need. Where can I find this component to PC cable ?
Thanks

ThanksAh, i didn't think the Zenith would have a VGA output so yeah, the cable i posted the pic of is what you need and it's available at Monoprice dot com, item number 2170 (6 foot version for under $4)
For different lengths, search their site with these keywords then scroll down:

It is quite possible that the Zenith is outputting RGB and that the Plasma is older than the 6 series before the PC input had RGB / YUV switching capability.
Ex: The TH42PWD5UY PC input is RGB only.
You can use a transcoder like those from Audio Authority to convert the DVD's YUV component to RGBHV to feed the PC input. Model 9A65 I think is the correct model number.
