So I placed an order for "Transformers" and it was shipped to me on October 15th. The shipping method I chose was the expedited to Canada (which takes 4-6 business days). When the 8th business day rolled around, I emailed Amazon.com to just confirm that my order did indeed ship. The response I got was "it could take 9-36 business days" WTF? So, I then emailed them back to express my concern as to the excessively long time limit, especially since I have never encountered this problem before and I paid for the mid level of shipping service.
On the 9th business day, my HD DVD arrived. Upon opening it, I discovered it to have a few scratches on the 2nd disc. So I decided to inform Amazon that my order did indeed arrive and it arrived with some minor damage. At that point, I was offered either a replacement or a refund. I told them that this was not really necessary and then they offered me a "$5.00 promo off" on my next purchase, so I accepted.
I then went on to make another order and upon checking out, the promo was there, but the 10% discount (that we have all been enjoying all year long) was gone! Back to emailing Amazon again, this time explaining the situation that by doing simple math, I am actually losing out here rather than receiving $5.00 for my troubles.
Final response from Amazon..."Sorry for the trouble, we are fully refunding your purchase and shipping you another "Transformers" HD DVD" and please let us know if your 10% is there on future purchases, otherwise please feel free to email us so we may correct the situation", yada, yada, yada....strange indeed.
Never really had any problems with Amazon before (except for a slightly damaged "For Love of the Game" HD DVD which they replaced) but their customer service seems to be second to none!
p.s.
Sorry to start another "Transformer-esque" thread.:)
