I just bought a full HD 42" Panasonic Plasma TV for which I need a customized mount. The mount itself is not the problem, but I thought I would see 4 threaded holes when removing the 4 plastic cover plates but I just have some plastic pieces in the holes. How can I then fix the mount to the back of the TV? Thanks for any advise

andredeclercq,

I'm pretty sure those plastic thread plugs will come out and you will have your threaded holes for your bolts. Just grab some needle nose pliers and pull them out.

Thanks for yr quick respons. Strange enough, the 4 hard plastic pieces seem to be securely mounted, and I can't remove them, even when using a plier. The pieces show a 5/16 hole, more than 1" deep. Could the thread then be even larger in diameter? What is a "normal" thread diameter for that kind of displays?

andre,

What is the exact model number of the TV. I'll do some digging for you and see if I can find anything out.

The model number is TH 42PZ70EA. I think it is the European version for the TH 42PZ70U.

Andre,

Wow, I must say I'm pretty unimpressed with Panasonic and their web information. If this was a Sony or a Samsung I would have this answered by now but I've searched all over and read through a few PDF manuals on the various models of this TV and they have nothing on how to mount these that I can find. I even tried looking through the mounts to see if they had manuals and I'm coming up with nothing concrete. Can you take a photo of the back of the TV and show me specifically what the back of the TV and these plastic "holes" look like. From the manual all it shows is 2 holes on the top and bottom about 660mm apart and nothing else.
I'll continue looking it has to be out there somewhere.
Cheers

andre,

Your sure those don't come out ?

It just doesn't make any sense to me. Looking at the photos they have to be "placeholders" I'm sure there are threaded holes behind those "stoppers" have you tried pushing down on them and turning them out (like a child proof medicine cap ;) )
I think they may be hard plastic or rubber stops and they may be threaded into place so you may have to remove them as if they were a bolt / screw.

Try that out and let me know if it works I'm still digging online looking for a detailed installation of how this is supposed to work by the manufacturer.

If that doesn't work maybe ask the question over in the Plasma thread on this model of TV as someone has to have wall mounted one of these darn things.

Indeed Calvin, the plastic pieces are open tubes, and what I didn't notice that there is a metal (M8) thread starting at 1' dept in the tubes. So I don't have to remove them. Thanks again!
