This majestic wide-screen (Ultra-Panavision 70mm--MGM Camera 65) begs to be released in a glorious-looking optical HD format!
Last WB's DVD special DVD boxed set--a remastered, color-corrected, and properly framed (finally; phew!) effort--proved to the answer to my payers that BH would be given the proper video treatment it truly deserves, yet I greatly yearn for a HD version.
I've been very fortunate that BH was aired in HD by a satellite channel (cannot remember which now; is moot at any rate), and to be given an HD tape copy by a most gracious and generous fellow AVS member (you know who you are! :) ), something which allowed me to see just how it would look on HD; it compared extremely well pitted against a 1960's, 35mm IB Technicolor reduction print that I am lucky to have access to from time to time. It appears that such an aired HD version was sourced from WB's DH video mastering, which is truly terrific!
So come on...WB...give us this cinematic wide-screen gem from Hollywood's glorious past in HD-DVD soon!!!...
