Why can't NBC buy HD prints of recent movies?
Are they that expensive that they are trying to save money but showing the 4:3 SD versions?

Tonight not in HD we have Scary Movie (2000).
Sunday not in HD we have The Bourne Supremacy (2004).

If they buy the network rights to a movie does it cost more for HD?

I have to imagine it does cost more for an HD copy than an SD copy. It is a niche market right now, and impressive as it is to view... they can't charge more for ad time commercials during an HD broadcast than an SD one... the advertisers are too smart to fall for that... so we get hit or miss on these things.

also i notice the network is selling pop-up ads for American Gangster, an off network ad for a new movie, i feel my tv is infected with adware every time i put on nbc, i thought nbc would cut back the popups after premiere week, i think they've gotten worse :(

Too bad--the promos were in HD and looked really good.

I notice that the Bourne Supremecy not in HD is in place of Sunday Night Football (in HD). The NBC web site says Every Sunday Night for "Football night in America". I guess their marketing people think that "every" and "most" are the same. Let's face it. NBC is just a crummy network.

On my DVR it says HD next to Bourne Supremecy. I'm recording cause I won't be home to watch it. Hopefully it's in HD

The title of this thread is wrong. The Bourne Supremacy is in HD on NBC tonight. Just goes to show that you can't count on even the network website to be completely accurate on what will be in HD.

"Football Night in America" does air every Sunday of the football season. Football Night in America is the recap show showing highlights of all the afternoon games. It also serves as the pregame show for Sunday Night Football.

Sunday Night Football does take one week off per season for the World Series.

What happened with your broadcast? Is something wrong? Mines coming out fine right now.

NBC doesn't have the word glorious in it's lineup.
