This Christmas I'm gonna take the plunge and get Sirius. I'm in the car 4 to 5 hours/day so that will be the primary use although it'd be nice to have some good music to listen to while I putter around the house also. In the car, I am going to upgrade the radio now. Are there radios (that also play CDRs and CDRWs) that are Sirius ready? Which Sirius receiver would best fit my wants? My cell phone is bluetooth, should I get a bluetooth ready receiver? I know very little about this subject but am going nuts trying to find clear radio stations while driving. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I'm currently doing the same thing. I've been a long time Alpine user so I'm pretty loyal to them. However, one thing that bothered me about my old Alpine was that it would only display 1 line of text while listening to Sirius. The pros far out way this though. The quality sounds like a 128KB mp3 so it's nothing great but it gets the job done.

However, the new Alpine CDA - 9885 is capable of displaying 2 lines of text so you could see artist & title at the same time.

With the adapter you can hook up an iPod, and most places are giving it away for free. It will also play CD-R's CDRW's, and MP3's. There is also a BlueTooth add-on you can get, but it's an extra $150 dollars.

I bit the bullet and picked up the 9885 today on eBay for $200 shipped with alpine iPod adapter.

The bad thing is right now Alpine is updating their Sirius adapter so they are pretty hard to find. I called around my local shops today and found one guy with them in stock. But most places online are backordered, so if you try to order one make sure you call and ask if they are in stock first. Every place I called today was out of stock.

The model for the Sirius adapter is:
Alpine KCA-SC100 SIRIUS Adapter

It allows you to pause, rewind, & fast forward Sirius which is pretty nice. Also has artist & game day alerts.

Best of luck.

the best idea would be to ask the dealers where you got your car - they would know best if there are units available. as for the home, heck, there are all sorts of docks for sat radios, fuhgetaboutit
