Macfixit has noted that quite a few people seem to have problems with new installations of Leopard. Though this may not apply to everybody, they offer this (http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=200710261517596)possible solution.

Ah, the self-fulfilling prophecy of the now-C/NET-owned "be afraid, be very afraid" site.
Fortunately, I did have rock solid SuperDuper bootable backup clones just in case, and didn't have any APE haxie crap installed, my Leopard upgrade installs went fine on the two test Macs I use most often in HT tasks (a 12" PB 867MHz and a CD Macbook.) I do have a "repair permissions" bug (extremely long repair permissions process, had to boot up from the leopard install disc to complete a repair via its disk utility) and also had to rebuild a few keychain items, but otherwise everything is peachy.

Could you elaborate on the keychain repair? Also, if we first purge any of the APE extensions, the upgrade should work? I've read on some other forum, Final Cut Pro-related, that one should not, under any circumstances upgrade to Leopard, but instead always do a fresh, clean install - which of course is my nightmare, 'cause it takes the better part of a day to reinstall everything.

I think we'll see a whole slew of new Leopard only 3rd party apps starting to come out next week, and updates of current apps to gain Leopard compatibility and functionality. Wait for the updates to come out for apps that you don't really need yet.
Really, if you think about it, a clean reinstall every new OS version isn't such a bad idea. Sets the stage for a good start on the new OS. :)
And I really would rather see how a fresh OS runs without all of the bloat.
Anybody have any experience with the new Leopard Migration Assistant yet?

well, Apple issued a Login and Keychain Update 1.0, and once you download that, if you still have a problem, just go in Applications > Utilities > Keychain access. I had trouble authenticating to two other Macs on my network when using screen sharing, so I just deleted and re-entered their user ID and password info and was good to go. I also had to re-do keychain passwords for a couple of mail accounts.

well, this didn't happen to me, but I think JerryNY listed the files you have to remove in the Leopard Compatibility thread.

Very nice APE summary, typical of Gruber:
